Family start up of three women to launch limited edition monastery wine
in the UK
The wine is available in just 300 bottles and only until 20th November 2013
London, UK – 30 October 2013: A UK-based family start up of three women, Alexandra , Nikol and Eleni
Theodorou, have been given exclusive distributorship in the UK from St. Paul’s Monastery in Athos
Mountain, Greece.
Urban Grains Ltd, their family project has recently started sourcing and packaging natural ingredients
with no preservatives, artificial colours or additives and so far it gained the enthusiasm of gourmet and
nature-loving audiences in London.
The limited edition wine, called Tria Adelfia (Three Brothers) is produced exclusively by St. Paul’s monks
in Mount Athos (also called the Holy Mountain) in Greece, an area cloaked by beautiful chestnut
and other types of Mediterranean forest, with steep slopes punctuated by twenty imposing
monasteries and their subsidiary establishments.
The production is limited to 5,000 bottles per year, with only 300 of them available for purchase in
the UK. The production method which dates back to Roman times, called the straw or raisin wine
system, uses grapes that have been dried in the sun on mats of straw to concentrate their juice.
It is made of 100% Merlot grapes and after processing it ages in Slovenian oak barrels (the barriques) for
at least two years before bottling.
Tria Adelfia is a truly hand crafted wine, painstakingly made – not to mention that very few people
have the privilege to drink wines from Mount Athos, with a deep red colour and bouquet
harmoniously meeting the typical characteristics of the Merlot variety, starting from the ripe black
cherry and plum up vanilla.
The lucky few who will have the privilege to enjoy it will also get two unique additional products:
A special jar of organic grapes preserved in distilled wine, a fantastic dessert that is slowly
matured to a unique taste in a special preservation room for 6 months allowing all aromas
to penetrate the grapes inside. Can be used as a topping on vanilla ice cream, or on crème
fraise. Accompanies a good espresso or a nice piece of single estate chocolate. The syrup
itself can be consumed as an excellent digestive, leaving a bouquet of fine tastes and
aromas in the palate.
A unique one of its kind caramelized onion spread made from organic onions of the area
with a sweet-sour taste, as an excellent spread over Stilton, Gorgonzola or Roquefort
cheeses.
Everything will be packaged in a luxurious box which brings the seal of the Monastery, making it a
unique, exclusive gift for Christmas.
