SASBO SCHOLARSHIPS It is the goal of our association to encourage as many members as possible to attend our monthly meetings and to attend the annual NYSASBO conference. This year the executive committee has added two new scholarships for our membership. Details of the criteria of each scholarship offered are as follows: Student Scholarships: A scholarship will be awarded to every district that was represented at five (5) or more monthly SASBO meetings between the months of September and May. A check will be written to each district that qualifies to award to a graduating senior. The criteria for selecting the student will be set by the individual school district. NYSASBO June Conference: Three (3) scholarships will be awarded to 3 different districts for attendance at the annual NYSASBO conference held in June. Each month a chance will be entered for the district in a drawing for each member that attends the meetings. Chances will be entered by district name and not for the particular person who attended the meeting. For example: if two members from school district “A” attends the September meeting, 2 chances will be entered with School District “A” listed. In March a drawing will be held to award the scholarships to three different districts. If the same district is selected a second time that chance will be discarded and another chance will be selected. The scholarship will pay both the registration fee and the Hotel fee directly. All other costs will be the responsibility of the district and/or Attendee. If a district is selected that cannot send someone to the conference, another district will be drawn. ASBO International Conference: In an effort to encourage more memberships and involvement with the International association, one (1) scholarship will be awarded for attendance at the Annual ASBO International conference held in the Fall 2015. Each month a chance will be entered for the district in a drawing for each member that attends the meetings. Chances will be entered by district name and not for the particular person who attended the meeting. In May a drawing will be held to award the scholarship. The scholarship will pay both the registration fee and the Hotel fee directly. The will be a reasonable allowance allocated to cover the travel costs. This will be reimbursed to the attendee after proof of expenses and attendance. The amount allocated for travel will be determined once the location is selected by the organization. All other costs will be the responsibility of the district and/or Attendee. If a district is selected that cannot send someone on the conference, another district will be drawn.
