2014 BCWSA HOLIDAY DOUBLES TENNIS TOURNAMENT
Floating Weighted Scoring System
The weighted scoring system is based on the results of each game within your match.
1. The intent is to return to the original weighted score if the game score is tied.
(The only exception may occur when teams play, having +30 and -30 weighted scores).
2. Players will begin the match with designated weighted scores.
(Based on the score - be sure to start serving on the proper side – deuce or ad.)
3. At the completion of each game, the weighted score is adjusted by 15 points. The maximum
adjustment plus or minus is 30 points to a max of +40 or -60.
3 Key Rules to Remember
1. “SHORTEN THE MATCH FIRST” – You always adjust the weighted score “Up” before you ever adjust
one “Down”.
2. “BREAD CRUMB RULE” – When deciding which weighted score to move back towards the original,
follow the path back on which you came.
3. “BACK HOME” – Whenever the score is tied, you should be back to your original weighted scores!
Example: Smiths -15 vs. Jones +15
Game 1 - Both teams start at the designated weighted score, serving on the deuce side.
Game 2 Smiths lead 1/0 - Jones receive a +30 weighted score (Smiths stays at -15)
Game 3 Smiths lead 2/0 - Jones receive at +40 weighted score (Smiths stays at -15)
Game 4 Smiths lead 2/1 - Jones return to +30 weighted score (Smiths stays at -15)
Game 5 Teams tied 2/2 - Jones return to a +15 weighted score (Smiths stay at -15)
*Back to original weighted scores*
Game 6 Jones lead 3/2 – Jones stay at +15 weighted score (Smiths go to 0)
Games 7 Jones lead 4/2 – Jones stay at +15 weighted score (Smiths go to +15)
Game 8 Jones lead 4/3 – Jones stay at +15 weighted score (Smiths return to 0)
Games 9 Teams tied 4/4 – Jones stay at +15 weighted score (Smiths return to -15)
*Back to original weighted scores*
Game 10 Smiths lead 5/4 – Jones receive a +30 weighted score (Smiths at -15)
