Writing Your Own Creation Story and Hero’s Journey In order to show your understanding of the elements and ideas of how creation stories and the hero’s journey reflect the value of a culture or civilization, you will embark on a journey to write your own creation story. This story will be based on the type of government, technological advances, trade and resources, etc of the civilization that you created in Mr. Norris’s History class. Parts of the assignment: 1. Brainstorm the elements from your civilization that will appear in your story. Consider the following questions Creator: is there one creator or many? Is/are the creator(s) supreme or is power shared? Is/are the creator(s) male, female, without gender. Benign or Malevolent? Concerned or indifferent? Named or unnamed? Does the creator live in the sky or the earth? Creation: is the creation accomplished by word, act, or both? Is it ordered or haphazard? Is the creation a bloody struggle/warfare, or is it calm and reasoned? Is it fast, slow, or is time not mentioned? Where does creation begin where does it end up? Nature: How will you incorporate the resources that are valued to your culture and why? What key landmarks from your map will be explained? Hero: What cultural values in government, technology and trade can be exemplified through a hero’s journey 2.
