Dear California Jersey Breeders,
Happy New Year! Our annual convention and meeting will be held February 15 and 16, 2013 at
the Sheraton Sonoma County-Petaluma, 745 Baywood Drive, Petaluma, California 94954. A
block of rooms are being held at the cost of $119.00 per night plus tax. Please call
707.283.2888 to make your reservations; mention the California Jersey Cattle Association when
making reservations to receive the special rate.
California Jersey Cattle Association (CJCA) will be hosting a social on Friday evening,
February 15th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Snowy Egret Banquet Room at the Sheraton. Appetizers will
be served with a few complementary bottles of wine.
The annual meeting of the CJCA will be at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 16th.
Immediately following the annual meeting of the California Jersey Cattle Association we will
have a program on a variety of topics featuring presenters from Dean Foods and the American
Jersey Cattle Association (AJCA). Jennifer Walker, DVM, PHD with Dean Foods will be
speaking with us about Animal Welfare. Neal Smith, CEO of the AJCA will give a presentation
on Strategic Planning for US Jersey. We will also have an open forum discussion about
genomics and the changes that occurred in December, 2012, as well as what happening with the
National Association of Animal Breeders (NAAB). Lunch is included for program attendees.
The 40th Annual California Jersey Cattle Association Awards Banquet will be on Saturday,
February 16, in the Great Blue Heron Ballroom. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m. with a no host
bar; dinner will be served at 7:00p.m.
The California Junior Jersey Cattle Association will also be hosting events for all youth
members Friday night and Saturday concluding with award presentations at the evening’s
banquet. Awards will be given for youth production, youth achievement, scholarship and
crowning of the 2013 California Jersey Queen. Juniors are asked to apply for any eligible
contests by going to the state website http://CaliforniaJerseys.USJersey.com, applications will
be under the Junior tab.
We look forward to seeing you in the North Bay and meeting with old Jersey friends and
making new ones.
