FORMAT Starting at the top line of the page: Upper left-hand Corner Title of Article: Author: Publication: ChemMatters Date Published: Upper right-hand corner Name: Period: Date: Page Requirements – Margins must be an inch from the top, bottom, left and right. I prefer typed abstracts. Use 12 pt. Times New Roman, single spaced paragraphs. CONTENT The written expression should be well organized and detailed – at least 3 paragraphs. Abstracts will be clear, coherent and effective communication. Introduction – a brief summary of the article, in YOUR OWN WORDS, not merely copying sentences of paragraphs from the article. Body – identify and explain the MAJOR chemistry concepts of the article including how the article relates to the unit(s) being studied in Chemistry. A major chemistry concept could include scientific principles, laws, or theories. It is important that you pick out the chemistry concepts found in the article and not vocabulary definitions. Conclusion – this will include what YOU learned from the article on how the topic affects YOUR life or society. Article Length – The abstract must be at least one full page in length, 12 pt.
