Dominican Outreach Services & Foundation – Spokane, WA 1990 – 1994 Development Director Produced effective volunteer/staff leadership and organizational structure for successful annual and capital campaign building first Transitional Living Center for homeless women in Spokane (1993) generating over $2 million in collaborative private and public sector commitments. Created and collaborated with small non-profit staff advisory board and volunteers for DOMINICARE of Stevens County producing first annual golf tournament realizing net profits of $20,000 in 1994, now annual tournament. Initiated and generated grant writing and grants management program for Transitional Living Center and DominiCare; enhanced timeliness with Whitworth College intern. Cut costs by demonstrating effective use of “office volunteers,” supervising a daily donor records clerk on the computer, and a weekly mailing clerk. 1977 – 1990 Spokane Inland Northwest Community Foundation Executive Director Managed Regional Community Foundation for a 32-person governing board (Spokane) and four geographical advisory boards (Inland Northwest) comprised of 30 rural community representatives. Developed leadership and organizational structure for newly established Community Foundation to conform with by-laws, IRS guidelines, and demonstrate fiscal responsibility. Diplomatically monitored Community Foundation investment performance of trust department portfolio managers and investment advisory service. Initiated planned giving commitments generating 125 endowments over $6.8 million to more that 180 worthy charitable organizations involved with the arts, education and youth, civic improvement, historical restoration, health and social services. Catalyzed the community around the issue of women and children in poverty, successfully leading to a $500,000 Ford-MacArthur National Foundations leadership challenge grant. Supervised Project Share, a $1.25 million energy assistance program assisting 11,000 households in 21 counties in collaboration with Washington Water Power, Ve4ra Water Power, Modern Electric, and the Neighborhood Centers.
