Tecumseh PTG Minutes – October 1, 2009 Meeting called to order at 6:23pm. Welcome Back Picnic -Thank you to the co-coordinators Kerri Becker and Francine Ryan. -The picnic was well attended. Treasurer’s Report -PTG is charged a $10.00 fee for all returned checks. -Please put any check requests in office and it is usually a 3-5 day turn around. -Many donations have been received so far. The donation option is a direct result of the PTG survey as many people requested this as an alternative to fundraising. New Out of School Policy -Please call the office if your child will not be in school otherwise you will receive a phone call. This is due to a state attendance policy. Upcoming Events -Chris Risavi is coordinating Picture Day on October 14th and volunteers are all set. -Rollerskating Parties will be held on October 20th (1st, 2nd) and October 22nd (3rd, 4th). Carrie Roadarmel and Carol Falso are coordinating for 1st and 2nd grade and Cathy Owens for 3rd and 4th grade. -The first Tecumseh Movie Night will be held on October 23rd. Movie choices are either Chicken Little or Space Buddies. Volunteers are still needed to help with snacks and drinks. -Election Day Bake Sale to be held in November so please try and bake something. - Information on the cookie dough fundraiser will be sent home in November. - The 4th grade plays will be held on December 2nd (Marmillo, Howes) and December 3rd (Dietz, Youngs). -The Pancake Breakfast will be held on Sunday, March 7th. Carol Falso is the coordinator and she will be having a planning meeting before Thanksgiving. Volunteers Needed Lunch Room Helpers – Volunteers are still needed to fill some empty slots. Please contact Mary Barbara Lovas if you can help. This will be the last year for Mary Barbara Lovas to coordinate lunch room helpers. Room Captains/Helpers – Please contact Laura Lee if you can volunteer. Some classes are still in need of volunteers. Other Carrie Kowalczyk is coordinating Box Tops for this school year. Box top sheets will be sent home once a month- this is not a contest. Please participate as we earned $550 in cash last year. Carrie Bearse is in charge of purchasing playground equipment. More sleds will be provided this year, we are in need of more footballs and the sheds need to be locked at the end of the last recess. Please contact Carrie with any requests for equipment. Principal’s Report -Mrs. Zerrillo welcomed everyone back to a new school year. -The current enrollment at Tecumseh is 412. -The family handbook has been revised to update policies and changes both district wide and at Tecumseh. Please read it. It will be available online, but will not be duplicated again except for new families. -A fifth 3rd grade was added and activities are planned with the children for community building. -There is a change in Thanksgiving break – there is school on Wednesday, November 25th. -ELA dates have been changed to the day after Spring break. -Tecumseh will host the Jan. 4th JD Board meeting and there will be a presentation involving students so please try to attend. -There will be no 3rd grade chorus this year due to the lengthening of specials times by the district. Jen Queri reminded everyone to please check out the Tecumseh website. She also received a thank you from Sue Fahey for the Ellison machine purchased by the PTG for the teachers.
