I do love the friendships July 7 at 8:25pm · Like · 2 Genie Wilcox I was a member of Rainbow, but couldn't join OES based on Rainbow membership at the time. (this changed by General Grand Chapter later) My masonic affiliation would have been my grandfather but he was suspended from Masons during the Depression when he had Cancer and couldn't afford his dues.Long story short - or not! We had secret Rainbow Dads in our Rainbow Assembly (like a secret pal) and David Wilcox (the youngest Mason of his Lodge) was my last Rainbow Dad before my majority...the rest is history. It's has just always been part of my life, and I wanted to continue the friendship and masonic family I had as a youth. 2. Have always loved the friendships made in OES, but when we moved to Colorado what a great way to meet new people. July 7 at 9:16pm · Edited · Like · 2 David Wilcox I was always around Eastern Star and Masons growing up. My mom and dad were WM and WP when I was about 8 years old and my dad was Master of the lodge that same year. I recall spending lots of time in the dining room of the Lodge building during meetings under the watchful care of one of the Rainbow girls. During second and third grade, I was often called to the Principal's office near the end of the day...He was Senior Warden when my dad was Worshipful Master and I was the delivery boy. There always seemed to be Masonic family friends at our home for various social events and committee meetings. So, as soon as I could I became a DeMolay and then petitioned to be a Mason. (Kansas changed the age to 18 just 8 days before my 21st birthday). Then in December 1974, I joined Eastern Star. About a year and a half later, I married this really cute Rainbow girl and in 1978 she was elected Associate Conductress of our Chapter. As Genie Wilcox noted in her response, when we moved to Colorado, we thought visiting OES meetings might be a good was to meet a few good people. I guess that worked out far better that we ever imagined. July 7 at 8:53pm · Edited · Like · 3 CherylAnn Craven 1. I knew nothing about the Masonic fraternity. But I did know that Larry and Alice Moody belonged to "something" in the Masons and I wanted to know more about it. They signed my petition. 2. I love the friendships. When my first husband died, if it has not been for my Eastern Star family, I would not have made it through that time of my life. The support and love was overwhelming. I also believe in our obligation. If the entire world would live out only 1 aspect of our obligation or the lesson taught by any one of our Starpoint lectures , the world would be in peace and harmony. My dad was active in all the Masonic bodies (was secretary of 4 of them at one time). I was initiated when my mother was Grand Martha. My 2nd great grandfather and his two brothers were charter members of Bancroft Lodge #145 in Bancroft, Nebraska in the 1880s and my 2nd great grandmother was a charter member and the first WM of the Eastern Star chapter in Bancroft. 2. I most enjoy the fellowship and friendship of all the members of Eastern Star and getting to make new friends as we travel around the state and to other states. The principles and lessons taught by Eastern Star are what bind us together as a family. July 7 at 10:50pm · Edited · Like Gloria Collar Joritz I entered Eastern Star because my dad was 33 degree Mason and thought it would be a good fraternal group for me to be involved in. I enjoy membership because: it offers an opportunity for philanthropic activity that constantly changes it's direction fellowship with like-minded people provide as philosophy for living ritual offers reminders of values for living a life of worth July 8 at 6:38pm · Like Kelly Viola Baines Hi all, Thank you so much for your feedback.
