Minor or Certificate
48
15-18 Students select and complete either (a) a university-approved
18-hr certificate or (b) a 15-18hr minor in a single course of
study in a college other than Natural Sciences, Geosciences or
Engineering.
Courses used to satisfy the minor or certificate may not be used to
satisfy the language, arts and culture requirement above. They may
count toward the UT core.
Clarifications:
(a) Students are eligible to earn any certificate offered on campus
except those that require more than 3 hours in the major field of study
for their degree. (e.g., Biology majors cannot earn certificates that
require more than 3 hours of BIO coursework).
(b) If a certificate includes a course that is required for the major, but is
not in the major field of study, we will allow 3-hours of overlap in
requirements. In other words, student now has 3 additional elective
hours.
12-15 Students have three to five free elective courses.
