2012-2013 Leeds Metropolitan University Placement Student:
“A placement at APL is greatly beneficial to a student looking to work in an ever changing business environment.
Working with some of the world’s biggest brands, gives you a good insight into how a global business operates. The
role within APL also gives a good platform for you to apply what you have learnt from your academic studies, whilst
building on the fundamental personal skills such as communication and team work. Working on real life
accounts independently gives you a great sense of satisfaction. The placement scheme will give you a great
advantage upon returning back to university, as it allows you to question the theoretical principles applied to the
practical applications of business”.
2012-2013 Hull University Placement Student:
“Working for APL increased my awareness of the finance field, helping me build confidence for my future career. The
company itself gives you the opportunity to take responsibility and helps you in working towards achieving targets
and goals alongside aiming to become a key element within the organisation. The role has improved my analytical
and commercial skills and with the competitive work environment, the experience you can gain is vital”.
2012-2013 York University Placement Student:
“APL give immediate responsibility to placement students, you are treated identically to a graduate. Within a couple of
weeks I was working on my own audits, giving me the opportunity to analyse some of the country’s biggest
companies. Also the office is split into small teams, therefore there are plenty of people to offer guidance and help to
develop you throughout the year”.
2012-2013 York University Placement Student:
“Taking a placement and extending my time at university by one year was a good decision, but a better one was my
choice to have my placement with APL. It is good working in an environment where your contribution is appreciated
and you quickly feel like an employee of the company. It offers great practical experience which encourages you to
use what you have learnt at University and apply it to your working life”.
2011-2012 Northumbria University Placement Student:
“My placement year at APL gave me the chance to work on major audits, making me responsible for my own work
and helping me develop a range of skills, including; analytical, time management, communication and a range of IT
abilities. The friendly and open atmosphere makes APL a company that gives you the opportunity to work with a
range of people, helping you learn off those that have experience and knowledge and giving you the chance to build a
professional relationship with all”.
2012-2013 Manchester Metropolitan University Placement Student:
The best thing about working for APL is the responsibility you're given from an early stage. You're treated like 'one of
the team' and can find yourself working on large audits very quickly.
2012-2013 Northumbria University Placement Student:
A fantastic insight into the commercial workings of the fast moving consumer goods industry, and a way of putting
into practice skills learnt during the first 2 years at University.
2012-2013 York University Placement Student:
A placement at APL has allowed me to gain valuable work experience and given me the chance to develop a range of
work related skills demanded by graduate employers. I have experienced personal, as well as professional
development at APL, including self-discipline and responsibility. Adapting to a workplace culture within a supported
environment at APL can allow you to make the most of your placement year.
