Before uploading Check the book is not already available Before uploading your book file please search Load2Learn (remembering to turn off any search filters you may have set) to see if we already have a version of it. If the book you wish to upload is not on Load2Learn, please follow the “Create a new resource (upload a book file)” instructions. If a version already exists on Load2Learn and you believe the version you have to be a better one, please follow the "Upload a new version" instructions. Reasons it may be a better version include: Replacing a part-work, with one that is a complete work New version includes images or has higher quality images New version has better copyright permission New version has improved structure/formatting/layout. All resources contributed will go through a validation process before they are approved to appear on the site. Copyright guidance Read our Copyright Guidance page and ensure you meet all the requirements. ISBN number You must know the ISBN number of the book you are uploading. Copyright statement A copyright statement must be included in the file you are uploading. View our example statements. Internet browser If you are using Internet Explorer and experience difficulty uploading your resources, we recommend that you use a different browser, such as Google Chrome: https://www.google.com/chrome 2 2. Create a new resource (upload a book file) Log in to www.Load2Learn.org.uk Select “Contribute” from the left-hand menu. 3 Select “contribute your resources here” Select “create a new resource” Select “Book” 4 This brings you to the “ISBN entry” screen. Type in the ISBN for the book you are uploading and select “Lookup ISBN”. The book information is pulled through automatically from the Bibliographic Data Services (BDS) catalogue. Double check the “title” and “author” match that of the file you are uploading. 5 Select the “file format” from the drop down menu, which matches the format of the book file you are uploading. “Choose file” – browse for the file stored on your PC, disc, or USB stick and select it. Then select “Upload”. 6 When uploading the file, if the format you have selected and the format of the file being uploaded do not match, you will receive an error message. Simply, select the correct format type and the book file again. Depending on the size of the file you are uploading, it may take a little while for the “Record details” screen to appear. You will see that some of the book information has automatically been pulled through from the Bibliographic Data Services (BDS) catalogue. You will need to look at the information on this screen and check it is correct and add additional information where required. This takes you to the “Upload file” screen. Select the “file format” from the drop down menu, which matches the format of the book file you are uploading. 17 “Choose file” – browse for the file stored on your PC, disc, or USB stick and select it. Select the “nature of difference” from the drop down menu. “Please state the reason” for the difference and select “Upload”. Trouble shooting ISBN lookup failed If you enter an ISBN number and get the error message “ISBN lookup failed, please check for errors or use the ISBN lookup service to check the ISBN” … Double check the ISBN number you have entered If it is correct and the error message appears, this means that the book has not been catalogued on the Bibliographic Database Service (BDS) system. Supply us with the book details If you supply us with the book details, we will contact BDS and ask them to add the book to their catalogue. We’ll then let you know when you can upload the book file.
