Job Posting - Compensation Specialist Health Association Nova Scotia is a not-for-profit, non-government, member- based service association for a wide variety of health and health related organizations. We are searching for a Compensation Specialist to work collaboratively with the Manager of Compensation Design and Analysis and other members of our team in support of the Service’s objectives. Position Scope: The Compensation Specialist is accountable for providing specialist advice, consultation and system application to participant organizations to ensure consistent application in compensation. The position provides specialized knowledge and skills to assist in the development and promotion of policies, processes and practices consistent with sound salary administration principles and designed to ensure fairness, equity, consistency province wide. This position also supports researching, costing, and mandate development for collective bargaining through active and responsive support at the bargaining table. The position coordinates implementation of compensation related adjustments once Agreements are approved by all parties. It also provides expert support in relation to compensation issues that arise in relation to the administration of the collective agreements in the health sector. Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration, preferably with an emphasis in Human Resources, 3 - 5 years of recent experience in job evaluation and compensation administration preferably involving health sector or the broader public sector, a CCP designation would be preferred and CHRP designation is an asset. Experience with job evaluation, specifically the WyFactor and Hay methods are required. The position requires excellent analytical and communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to work in a professionally challenging environment providing services to a wide variety of clients with a very functionally diverse workforce including experience working in an unionized environment. Along with having the ability to balance a commitment to sound compensation principles with the ability to interpret, the successful incumbent will possess, a strong ability to anticipate, identify and assess future needs of clients as a result of keeping abreast of challenges and opportunities facing the healthcare sector through reading, researching and monitoring new developments and directions in healthcare delivery in this province and being able to support same across a wide range of functional areas supported. 1 The ability to collaborate professionally with all levels of management as a credible, results-driven, and valued colleague to identify and provide options to address challenges is essential. Must be a demonstrated self-starter, decision-maker and problem solver and possess strong time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
