OBJECTIVE The parties, subject to the terms of this Memorandum of Understanding and the laws, rules, regulations and the national policies from time to time in force in each party’s country, will endeavour to strengthen, promote and develop academic and non-academic co-operations between the parties on the basis of mutual benefits. 2. AREAS OF CO-OPERATIONS Each party will take necessary steps to encourage and promote co-operation in the following areas: 2.1. Exchange of staff The partner universities agree to exchange of academic staff and researchers in the fields of studying, teaching and research in those areas they find of interest. 2.1.1. The two universities may nominate members of their academic staff and researchers to participate in an exchange for the purpose of studying and lecturing in the other university on a reciprocal basis. 1 2.1.2. Each nominated academic staff member’s participation is subject to approval by the host university. 2.1.3. The host university will provide a university appointment, library and research facilities, and other assistance as far as possible. 2.1.4. The host university will assist, as far as possible, in arranging accommodation for each academic staff member, and will assist the participating academic staff member in matters of immigrations, medical emergencies, language and local customs. 2.1.5. The home university will pay each participating academic staff member’s full salary during the period of the exchange. 2.2. Exchange of student Both parties agree to discuss the means for enabling the exchange of students at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level between the two institutions. The details of any form of student exchange shall be negotiated in an additional agreement which outlines the specifications as well as the participating institutions. 2.3. Research and development collaborations 2.3.1. Both universities will encourage the faculties and researchers to cooperate in the areas of scientific research and technological development and entailing joint proposals for research funding, in those areas they find of interest, by using their own research facilities. 2.3.2. The terms and conditions for such collaborations would be worked out by mutual agreement between the faculty member(s) and the institution extending such an invitation. 2 2.4. Resources and facilities collaborations 2.4.1. The parties agree to collaborate to formulate the curricular for courses, organizing seminars & symposia, exchange & dissemination of publications & reference material. 2.4.2. Either university may offer scholarship opportunities for graduate and/or doctoral level students for the purpose of advanced study or research, subject to the regulations of the host university and each university agree to share information about the prevailing scholarship opportunities. 3. COORDINATION Each party shall designate a person or office to serve as liaison for implementing this Memorandum of Understanding. AMENDMENTS It is mutually understood by the both parties that this Memorandum of Understanding only serves as a general agreement. RENEWAL Renewal of this Memorandum of Understanding is contingent upon a review of activities between the parties. Memorandum of Understanding may be extended by mutual written agreement by the Parties. 7. Nothing in this Memorandum of Understanding shall be construed as creating any legal and financial relationships between the parties. Rather, it is designed to facilitate and develop a genuine and mutually beneficial collaboration process for teaching, research and outreach activities. 8.3. Both parties subscribe to a policy of equal opportunity, non-discrimination and affirmative action. University programs, activities and facilities are available to all without regard to race, color, gender, religion, national origin, political persuasion, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, height, weight, veteran status, age or familial status. 8.4. Both universities agree to negotiate diligently and in good faith with respect to any intellectual property rights developed in the course of the agreed collaborative activities. 4 If proven necessary, intellectual property agreements shall be subsequently and separately drawn in accordance with the policies of each university and their respective national laws.
