Participants will share their experiences, ideas, and insight related to implementation of various educator effectiveness initiatives and will provide feedback on upcoming work. Requirements: We are seeking current Massachusetts public (including charter) school teachers to be part of the Teacher Advisory Cabinet. This includes specialists and coaches, as long as they spend a part of their day or week working directly with students. Beyond this requirement, we are looking for a broad array of experiences and expertise, including number of years in the classroom, subjects/grades, those with and without Professional Teaching Status, urban/suburban/rural districts, etc. Time commitment: We ask that applicants are committed to attending all meetings, as well as giving about 1-2 hours of time between meetings to complete pre-work and reply to emails as needed. In the past, we have received many more applications than we have spaces on the Cabinet, so we want to ensure that the teachers who take a spot are able to participate fully. We are happy to provide a letter for your principal and district leaders thanking them for allowing you to miss some school to attend meetings. Meeting dates, times, and locations: Some of our meetings are held at the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education office, 75 Pleasant St, Malden, MA. This allows for various ESE staff members to participate in meetings. Other times, meetings are held in locations in central Massachusetts, usually at a TAC member’s school. For the 2015-2016 year, the meeting schedule is: Kick-off retreat: August 14th OR August 24th 9:30-4:00pm in Malden (Note: To accommodate everyone’s busy schedules, we are offering our day-long kick-off retreat twice. You only need to attend one of the days.)
