SPAIS International Undergraduate Scholars Award for the academic year 2015-16

The School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies will award six scholarships to international students worth £1,000 in the first year of studies. The scholarships will be provided in the form of a fee reduction for the tuition upon enrolment. The scholarships will be awarded to the top applicants who display the school’s characteristics of academic excellence, leadership and social engagement. The scholarships will be awarded by programme as follows:

Three £1,000 awards for students studying Politics and International Relations (L200);

Two £1,000 awards for students studying Sociology (L300); and

 One £1,000 award for students studying Sociology and Politics (LL23).

Applications will be assessed according to the students’ past academic achievements, and through a

500 word essay. The essay should indicate why the candidates wish to study their degree programme, why Bristol is an appropriate place to do so, and what they wish to do with the degree upon graduation. This essay should not be a duplicate of the personal statement.

Candidates are invited to apply for the scholarship once an offer (either conditional or unconditional) to study at the University of Bristol has been received. Students should complete the attached form and return these by email to: spais-admin@bristol.ac.uk

The deadline for applications is 31 July 2015. Successful candidates will be contacted by email no later than

21 June 2015.

The names of the individuals awarded the scholarships will be publicized by SPAIS in early October. The winning applicants can have their names with-held from publicity by notifying the School by email prior to 01

October 2015.
