The 2015/16 Vacation Scholarship Program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to work on real-world problems in a leading R&D organisation.
Participation in the Vacation Scholarship Program has influenced previous scholarship holders in their choice of further study and future career options.
Many have gone on to pursue a PhD in CSIRO or to build a successful research career within CSIRO, a university or industry.

OD01 Project Title
CSIRO Undergraduate Vacation Scholarship – Cultural Initiatives
Project Description
CSIRO is undergoing an organisation-wide culture transformation with multiple opportunities for involvement on projects to contribute to the development and implementation of specific culture change initiatives.
We have an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate student to partake in a Vacation
Scholarship. In this role you will have the opportunity to work within a professional
Organisational Development support team and you will be personally mentored by our resident Business Psychologist.
Project Duties/Tasks
Work with the OD and Change teams to support the development of culture change initiatives
Research, analyse, and synthesise information about key culture change initiatives
Collect, analyse, and report on data gathered about preliminary culture change initiatives to guide refinement and further adaptation

OD02 Project Title
CSIRO Undergraduate Vacation Scholarship – Change Management
Project Description
CSIRO is undergoing an organisation-wide culture transformation with multiple opportunities for involvement on projects to contribute to the development and implementation of specific culture change initiatives.
We have an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate student to partake in a Vacation
Scholarship. In this role you will have the opportunity to work within a professional
Organisational Development support team and you will be personally mentored by our
Enterprise Change Manager Simon Lynch.
Project Duties/Tasks
Work with the OD and Change teams to support the development of cultural and change initiatives
Revamp the CSIRO Change Management website
Assist the team with preparing Change and Engagement plans for large Organisational projects.

OD03 Project Title
CSIRO Undergraduate Vacation Scholarship – Learning and Development Program
Evaluation
Project Description
The CSIRO Learning and Development team designs & delivers high quality tailored learning
& development solutions that address whole-of-organisation learning needs aligned to the organisation’s distinct purpose as the nation’s leading large scale, multidisciplinary, mission directed science & technology organisation
CSIRO is launching our 2015 -2019 Strategy in July and will invest significantly in learning and development interventions to support strategic and cultural change. It is important that we evaluate the impact of these interventions and the current curriculum to ensure they create value for the organisation.
This project will refine and implement the L&D program evaluation framework and report on evaluation outcomes to inform decisions about future program content and delivery approaches.
Project Duties/Tasks
Partnering with L&D team members to finalise the approach.
Developing engagement plans with a focus on encouraging post program feedback from participant and managers.
Collecting L&D program evaluation data using a combination of face to face and telephone conversations and surveys with participants and managers.
Analysing and reporting key messages, e.g. gaps, opportunities, areas for improvement and areas of strength.
Engage with the L&D team and contribute to other Learning and Development projects to gain a broader understanding of the organisational context.
