Access to support for Continuing Professional Development Access to clinical supervision from experts in the drug and alcohol treatment field Insurance cover whilst working for Lifeline MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Direct patient care: providing Medically assisted recovery treatment in line with Lifeline’s Clinical Policies and current national guidance for individuals affected by drug or alcohol misuse, to include assessments, reviews, liaison with other professionals and ongoing prescribing of medication. Patient care is provided as part of a team including substance misuse nurses and non-medically qualified ‘Recovery Coordinators’, who will produce repeat prescriptions for checking and signing by the post-holder. Leadership – to provide individual and group clinical supervision, to give advice and support with particular cases, to develop packages of CPD and undertake appraisals, to support the development of working protocols and procedures. Work with managers on strategic development of the service Work with external stakeholders – to develop and review joint working pathways, attend partnership meetings and contribute to local multi-agency governance and development forums. To lead on clinical governance of the clinical service – including clinical audit, patient feedback, quality assessment and improvement activity, and investigations into significant incidents, deaths in treatment and complaints. GENERAL DUTIES Deliver clinic sessions in an efficient and effective manner ensuring that, as far as possible, appointments take place within the designated times. Job Holder’s Signature Date Post Holder’s Signature Date Updated: 5 January 2016 2 Lifeline Project Ltd 2016 Clinical Lead Doctor Person Specification All criteria are Essential unless otherwise indicated Experience (through paid or voluntary work) Providing pharmacological treatment to individuals affected by substance misuse, both drug and alcohol Providing training, instruction or guidance to clinical professionals (particularly doctors and nurses) Involvement in clinical governance structures and processes Experience of working within secure environments (desirable) Knowledge Knowledge of the main clinical treatments for substance misuse Knowledge of the strategic and political context within which Lifeline delivers substance misuse services, in particular an understanding of public health commissioning processes and the recovery agenda Knowledge of clinical governance principles and key processes, including clinical audit, staff development and support, patient feedback, incident management and investigation Understanding of the requirements for professional registration of clinical professionals (particularly doctors and nurses) Qualifications and Training Primary medical degree Full registration with the General Medical Council Completion of vocational training in General Practice, with certificate of prescribed or equivalent experience or written evidence of exemption from the need for such experience [OR Equivalent training in Psychiatry] Specific training/certification in substance misuse (RCGP drug level 1 and level 2 or equivalent, RCGP alcohol level 1 or equivalent).
