CCC TRANSFER RESOURCES AND INFORMATION
Every year, City Colleges graduates head off to their dream transfer school, whether in Illinois or out of state. By
transferring to a four-year college or university after graduation, students can save up to $40,000 in tuition on the way
to a bachelor’s degree. Transfer and academic advising resources at each college and the institution’s many system-wide
articulation agreements with four-year schools help students achieve huge savings. They also support a core goal of City
Colleges’ Reinvention initiative, which is to increase the rate of transfer to bachelor’s degrees programs following
graduation.
Seamlessly transferring to a four-year school requires careful planning—but it’s never too late to start. Each college-level
course credit earned at City Colleges may not transfer to certain four-year schools, which means it’s important to
identify target transfer institutions as early as possible and follow a program pathway comprised of transferable courses.
Here’s a quick guide to how City Colleges helps students continue their education after graduation.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Some of City Colleges’ transfer agreements with four-year schools provide graduates with unique financial or scholarship
opportunities. For example, an agreement with the Illinois Institute of Technology allows students admitted to IIT to be
eligible to receive a Presidential Scholarship, which includes a $23,500 annual tuition award for up to three years along
with a $5,000 annual housing cost award.

AGREEMENTS WITH FOUR-YEAR SCHOOLS
Through the Illinois Articulation Agreement (IAI), City Colleges has an agreement with more 48 public and private
colleges and universities to accept a package of City Colleges’ general education courses in lieu of their own lower-level
courses.
In addition to the IAI, City Colleges has 25 articulation agreements signed directly with four-year partner schools. Some
of these guarantee junior status to any admitted student, while others pertain to specific programs at the four-year
school. To strengthen and expand connections to four-year institutions, City Colleges in 2013 created a new District-level
Transfer and Articulation Office, which leads the effort to increase transfers through partnerships with other institutions.
