You should be linking to TEKS and big themes from the courses in this section. (This section could easily end up around 250 words.) • The purpose of this lesson is to give the students a general understanding of the American Revolution and the events that took place at that time. Another point that this lesson has is teaching the class about one of the most famous and important American patriots during that time, Paul Revere and the contributions that he had during this time period. This app will allow the students to interact with the Discipline-specific Project EDUC 2332 Fall 2013 Professor Ruelas character and help them understand the reasoning on why he did everything and the lifestyle that they had during that time of history. And the other parts of the app will allow the students to understand the geography and the location of all of the thirteen colonies. The standards that are connected to this grade level allows the learning of the contributors of the American Revolution and the interaction of all of the colonies that were a part of the events. Materials List all materials that are necessary, even those that may seem repetitive. For the students Ipad, App “Ansel & Clair: Paul Revere’s Ride”, Worksheet For the teacher Ipad, Worksheet, Procedures/Activities This is where you can explain what will happen in class across a series of days. Envision each day as a minilesson plan. What work will the students engage in? How will each day build on the previous and lead to the next? This lesson plan would approximately take around four to five days depending on the duration of the app and the interaction that the students have on the app. On the first day I will introduce the concept of the American Revolution and the introduction of Paul Revere and his contributions to the class. And by this time, the class would understand the basics of the Revolution and the concepts of the British government and their influence on the Thirteen Colonies. Within the introduction, I will show the students the app that we will be using and hand out the worksheet that will include the key points of the lesson and app. The students will begin on the app and start on the adventure that they will have on the app and rely on the worksheet to look for the main points of the app. And throughout the next two or three days, the students will work on the app and keep pace on the lesson with checkups throughout the day and making sure that the students are actually working on the app and not being sidetracked by the Ipad itself. And if some of the students were to finish prior to the second to last of last day of the lesson plan, they would answer the multiple choice questions on the worksheet and write a short reflection of the app that includes the main points of the app and what they learned about the events that took place and their thoughts of the app and the lesson plan. Assessment of Student Learning: This section should include both your plans for formative assessment and summative assessment. • There would be a worksheet that the student will have to complete based on the app and the main points of the lesson plan. In order to complete the worksheet, the student would have to pay attention to the app and focus on the key points of the worksheet while working on the app. There would also be a short response to the app Discipline-specific Project EDUC 2332 Fall 2013 Professor Ruelas and the lesson plan that requires the students to understand the concepts of the lesson and what the app has to offer. • The standards that I would want to see from the students is one that shows me that they understand the concepts of Paul Revere and the contribution that he had on the American Revolution. The inclusion of some key details about the lesson and app, as well as a favorite part of the app that they might have. And towards the end of the paper, there should be a reflection portion of the paper, where they tell me the parts of the lesson that they enjoyed, or something that they might have difficulties in and if they would like to do another lesson that incorporated some kind of technology. Resources: Modifying and adapting existing lessons is a hallmark of a good teacher. And very rarely do lessons arrive in our minds fully formed, but instead are borrowed and adapted from a myriad of sources. • The resources that I will use within this lesson plan is the app “Ansel & Clair: Paul Revere’s Ride” created by CognitiveKids _____________________________________________ Additional notes: You should also be designing some of the pieces of paper that you would hand to students. Say, the assignment sheet, a series of instructions about how to use the particular technology, or samples of the final product they’ll be making.
