This study will examine whether the added use of technology (text messaging and
wearable technology to estimate energy expenditure) enhances 24 month weight loss in
young adults (18-35 years of age) compared to a standard behavioral weight loss
program.

5As-Based Behavioral Change Intervention for Weight Management in Schizophrenia
The purpose of this study is to pilot test a 5ABC intervention to change behaviors (i.e.,
inactivity and poor diet habits) and health outcomes measures (i.e., weight, Body Mass
Index [BMI], blood pressure [BP], waist circumference [WC], fasting lipid panel, fasting
glucose, and HgA1C) in individuals with schizophrenia of low SES (i.e., income ≤ 200% of
federal poverty level).
