Recycling in Huron Township
Diane S. Ad ams
John A. Zimmerm a n
To provide cost effective recycling program the Erie County Solid Waste Management
District approved a Solid Waste Plan with Ohio Environmental Protection Agency to
discontinue drop-off recycling programs and implement curbside recycling in densely
populated areas. The targeted locations outlined:
2009 City of Sandusky - all three locations in the City
2011 Perkins Township
2010 Margaretta Township
2010 Vermilion Township
2012 Huron Township- Osborn MetroPark
For this reason, the Township is partnering with the City of Huron to offer curbside
garbage and recycling pick-up to residents in Huron Township on a voluntary basis. You
should be receiving a letter in the near future from the City explaining the service and the
associated costs. If you decide that you would rather stay with your current provider,
please contact them and ask if they offer recycling as part of their package. (Nearly
every provider in this area offers recycling.) Please feel free to contact the City of Huron
(419-433-5000) or Huron Township (419-433-2755) with any questions.
The drop-off recycling location at the Erie County Sanitary Landfill will remain open. If
you have any questions regarding drop-off locations please contact Lisa Beursken,
Coordinator at 419-433-7303 Monday- Friday from 8am-4pm.
