Approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours for each ceremony (10am and 2pm
ceremony times)

No. Attendance is not mandatory. Students not attending (graduating
in absentia) should inform the Graduation Office in writing at least one
week prior to the graduation date. Students planning to attend
graduation should make every effort to attend rehearsal

Graduation Celebration on October 4, 2012, 10:30-5:00 in the D.P.
Culp University Center ballroom or in the Records Office, Room 101
Burgin E. Dossett Hall, beginning December 3, 2012.
Burgin Dossett Hall-Graduation Office, Room 102, beginning January
7, 2013.Diplomas not picked up will be mailed beginning Feb. 4, 2013.
Morning Ceremony-Students begin lining up in the mini dome on the
east and west side hallways at 9am for the 10 am ceremony. Students
should be in assigned places no later than 9:30a.m.
Afternoon Ceremony- Students may begin lining up in the mini dome
on the east and west side hallways at 1pm for the 2pm ceremony.
Students should be in assigned places no later than 1:30p.m.
Approximately 15-30 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony.
Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Information tables will be set up on west side for replacement name
cards, safety pins, tassels, etc.
When you pick up your cap and gown. They will not be given out at
lineup.
*Graduate students do not receive honor medallions
*Honors are based on current GPA and does not include the current semester’s
final grades. Grades from your final semester will be used to determine your
honors designation and will appear on your final transcript.
Do I have to stay through the entire ceremony?
Can I bring my child in the line-up?
Are provisions made for guests with impaired hearing or guest needing
wheelchair access?
Yes
No, children are not permitted to accompany the graduation candidates
in the line-up area, onto the arena floor, or across the stage.
An area in Section C is reserved for those requiring a sign language
interpreter and general seating area meets all requirements for
handicap access and is wheelchair accessible by ramp.
**Limited seating is provided on the West Side arena floor for those unable to
use the stairs or ramps. This view can be restricted by ceremony participants.
Only ONE person may accompany the person in this area. Admittance to this
area is by ticket only (tickets will be issued after graduation rehearsal). Guests
using this area may unload under the west side but must park elsewhere. Guests
in this area should arrive approximately 20 minutes prior to the ceremony. You
will not be allowed to enter the area while candidates are marching or being
seated. Once seated in this area you must remain in the designated area. Please
do not stand near the ribbon for photographs
Where do I park?
Guests should enter the parking area by the traffic signal on State of
Franklin. All marked university parking is available for guest parking
except John Bell Drive (immediately west of Memorial Center).
* John Bell Drive will be closed for the entire morning and afternoon.
* Handicapped parking, 24-hour reserved, and fire lane restrictions must be
strictly observed.
Are emergency services available?
Can I take pictures during the ceremony?
Can I present my graduate with flowers or other personal gifts during
the ceremony?
Yes. EMT (Emergency Medical Technicians) are available as needed
Yes, you may take pictures from your seat.
Not during the ceremony. You will have an opportunity to see the
graduate after the graduation ceremony
