THE CCCA
The CCCA is a national body that was established in the late 1970s to address a need for unification among
several of the largest cat control bodies in Australia. The CCCA Inc. now has affiliates in most states that
support the national uniformity of policies for the conduct of shows, training and appointment of judges,
registration of cats, definition of classes, and the awarding of championships. This standardisation allows
exhibitors and breeders to show cats around Australia.

WAYNE TREVATHAN
(CFA USA)
CARLA BIZZELL
(CFA USA)
Born in New Zealand, lived 1
year in England, 3 years in
Sydney Australia, 8 years in
Canada where I did my
University work at University
of Toronto in education,
before moving to the Ud
traineesSA in 1978.
I was first exposed to cats when I lived in Sydney and I took
a Burmese (European) with me to Canada. I became a
judge with the Canadian Cat Association in 1976 and
thereafter switched to CFA where I was accepted as a judge
in 1980..that’s 30+ years behind the table. I have bred
Burmese, Siamese, Persians and 18 years ago introduced
the European Burmese to CFA with foundation stock coming
primarily from Denmark & Australia. I have judged
extensively for CFA and around the world for many other
associations. I have sat on the CFA Board of Directors as
Southern Region Director from 1990 to 1998 and currently
serve as a member of the CFA Judging Program Committee
as Administrator. On that committee I oversee all guest
judging assignments for CFA and the judging program in
Japan.
I am Carla Bizzell, a CFA All
breed judge who began
judging in 2001. My Cattery
Name, Mabuhay, was
registered in 1975 and that
was the beginning of my cat
breeding/exhibiting life with
Siamese and Balinese. Over
the years I have shared my
home with Abyssinians, Somalis, Exotics, Persians and
British Shorthairs. I currently enjoy raising and exhibiting
Chartreux. I sit on the CFA Board as Director at Large where
I Co-Chair the Breeds and Standards Committee. Other
positions I have held in the past are Treasurer of The Cat
Fanciers’ Association, Inc., CFA Exotic Breed Council
Secretary, Treasurer of the CFA Judges’ Association and
member of the CFA Judging Program committee. Recently
retired from my accounting position outside the cat fancy, I
live with my Husband in Florida. I enjoy travel and
appreciate the opportunity to see the world and meet likeminded cat lovers while judging cat shows. I am thrilled to
be part of this prestigious show!

VALERIE HARNEY
(CQI)
MERYLE FRAME
(FCCV)
I have been an All
Shorthair/Semi Longhair
judge since 1976 and an
All
Longhair/
Semi
Longhair since 1987
making me an All-Breeds
Judge
in
1987.
Throughout each year since attaining my licences, I have
travelled throughout Australia and in several
overseas locations including Malaysia, Japan and the United
States. I am also on the All Breeds Guest judges Panel of
ACFA USA. I have held many positions on committees
throughout the years, including Minute’s Secretary,
Secretary and Chairperson. I have also been secretary and
vice president of various clubs and until recently, I have
show-managed several shows each year.
I became a CCCA
group 2 judge in 1993
and group 1 in 2004. I
have had the privilege
to judge in most states
of
Australia
and
overseas, and been
involved with the running of many shows, beginning with a
show neuter in 1977. My family enjoyed showing our neuter
for several years and we decided that he needed a friend.
So, this was the beginning of my involvement into the world
of breeding. Famous last words” we will just have one litter”
and here I am more than 30 years later. I have never
stopped breeding Siamese and Orientals in most colours
and patterns under the TOMELIMA prefix throughout all of
these years, striving for the ‘modern’ style of
Siamese/Oriental and importing several from the UK,
Europe and NZ to give me out crosses and update the type,
while also opening the gene pool.. I have exported several
of my kittens to NZ and USA and they have achieved their
highest awards, while here at home many of my babies
have done well for me in most states of Australia. I was
founding President of the Sunshine Cat Club and have also
served on a number of committees of several clubs, while I
always enjoy judging and involving myself in the Cat Fancy
in general and hope to continue for many years to come.
I very much enjoy attending cat shows, meeting cat lovers,
cross stitching, sewing. I just adore being with Cat People
talking ‘Cat” and sharing the world wide love of the cat with
all who care to listen. The introduction of the ‘Australian
Open Judging’ method brought great joy to me as a judge
because it allowed exhibitors, show personnel and the
general public to share the judging of the cat.
JULIA NICHOLLS
(FASA)
BARBARA MARTLAND
(FASA)
Julia has been a judge for 27
years and has judged
interstate and overseas. She
has bred Cream Burmese
intermittently over many years
under the Minnaloushe prefix.
Julia represents FASA at
CCCA and also sits on the local Management Committee.
Currently she Is also part of the group training some aspiring
judges.
As a veterinarian she is able to bring this expertise to both
CCCA and FASA. In turn talking to breeders and handling
many cats has helped her in her veterinary career.
I have been involved with the cat
fancy since 1971 when I registered
my prefix Arrakish to breed Persian
cats.I bred Persians for 18 years.
During the last 43 years I have run
many shows and held positions at
FASA , I am currently Convener of
Breeds and Standards and Tutor for the current Shorthair Judging
Course for FASA.
Along with my Daughter Kirsty I have bred Exotics for the last 24
years, I love Tabbies and also Bi-Colours.
I became a G1 Judge in the 1980s G3 in 1999 and All Breeds in
2007, along with cats I have 3 Daughters, 7 Grandchildren and
recently 3 G Grand Daughters, my youngest Grandson Aiden
often comes to shows with us and now enjoys being a Junior
Exhibitor.

ROD U'REN (FCCV)
CHERYLE U’REN (FCCV)
Introduction to Cats:
Obtaining my first pedigreed cat in
1963, I have been involved in the
world of feline for over forty years;
being since 1967 a member of the
Feline Control Council of Victoria Inc,
Victoria’s main registration body and
one of the two largest in Australia
As a breeder:
My Firnbank prefix was originally for white Persian breeding.
Since then, I have acquired an interest in the Lavendel (solid
colour), Sublime (Himalayans) and Preview prefixes. My
chief love, many Persians from these prefixes are shown
successfully for top honours not only in Australasia, but
increasingly in other parts of the world, including the UK.
Exotic Shorthairs, Scottish Folds and most recently
Singapuras have been bred most successfully in partnership
with my wife Cheryle and Denis Turner in Sydney.
Clubs, Council and Committees:
Apart from giving me the stimulus to write fairly frequently,
my interest in colour, genetics and the health of cats lead
me to be immediate Past Chairman of the Breed Subcommittee, which by the end of 2003 played a large role in
completing revised standards for the national Cat Coordinating Council of Australia; a six-year process. I also
conducted a stewards training course during my period of
service and am the current Group 1 Tutor Judge ( the
Longhair section). After many years of service on the
Committee of the FCCV, I resigned at the end of 2003.
Judging:
I began judging in 1978 and became an All Breeds judge in
1990, officiating widely throughout Australia and New
Zealand and most recently in other overseas locations. I
especially enjoy talk-style shows, believing they should be a
happy, interactive and learning experience for everyone,
trying to create a judging ring which reflects this. I hope the
wider perspective I have developed on cats of all breeds has
prepared me well for this.
I have been a member of the
Feline Control Council of
Victoria since it’s inception in
1962. I was first licensed to
judge in 1965 and qualified as
an All breeds judge in 1979.
Over the past 50 years I have
gained broad experience with
judging invitations throughout Australia
and New Zealand plus Hong Kong,
Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, USA,
Europe, South Africa, Indonesia, Japan,
United Kingdom. Taiwan and many
provinces throughout China thus gaining
valuable knowledge into international
variations of standards.
I am an FCCV and CCCA National Tutor and Examining All
Breeds judge and am involved in lecturing and conducting of
Judges Seminars for both organisations.
Over the years I have shown my preference for breeding
and showing top quality Persians with great success in
Solid, Himalayan and Marked colours.
I am a foundation member and Life Member of both the
FCCV and the Pedigreed Persian Cat Club of Victoria.
I have served as President of the FCCV plus holding
positions on many sub-committees relating to judging,
breeding, showing and standards matters.
I have also been a regular FCCV delegate at our national
Coordinating Cat Council of Australia’s meetings since the
FCCV became a member.
I am privileged to be serving at this time as President & LO
of CCCA. I believe strongly in the principle of such a group
and am proud of the unity that exists within from all the
Member Bodies.
I am honoured also to be currently serving as the Vice
President of the World Cat Congress. It is a great privilege
to represent the CCCA as this level and exchange ideas
with such knowledgeable and enthusiastic delegates from
the major international Feline organisations.

CHERYL ROSS (FASA)
CHRIS MERRITT (CQI)
I commenced breeding
under the prefix of Cheros
in 1985 with my first
female, a Blue Tabby Lynx
Point Siamese (as they
were known then). I quickly
established that tabbies
were the only way to go
and continued breeding them until a sudden revelation came
to me – I saw photos of the Havana (Foreign Chestnut)
Oriental – now known as the Chocolate Oriental.
I was able to acquire one of the first Havanas to come into
Adelaide – can always remember the gorgeous Chestnut
brown coat colour with a reddish undertone. They weren’t
known as Orientals back then – they were under the
Shorthair (Other than Siamese) section of Group 3. After
quite considerable submissions and lobbying, they were
formally recognised as Orientals in Group 2 for both
showing and breeding.
Over time, I combined the love of tabbies, chocolates and
silver to produce babies that covered all these factors and
had some success on the show bench. I also changed my
prefix to Talkabout as that is what these cats did constantly
– talk!
I was also able to take up a judging course and received my
Group 2 licence in 1985, followed by Group 1 in 1988.
During this time I was elected to positions within the Feline
Association – Registrar; Secretary; Treasurer and then
President as well as being a member of the Executive
Committee. I was also a member of the Breeds and
Standards Sub-Committee.
In the 90’s I deviated from Group 2 cats to take up the ever
challenging challenge of Devon Rex cats. During that time
we were fortunate enough to have many of the old English
lines available and I thoroughly enjoyed these ‘ET’ felines.
I gave up breeding cats a few years ago, mainly due to
extensive travel for work and I now share my house with a
cat and a dog. I am still judging and talking to exhibitors
though!
BREEDING
INTERESTS:
I currently breed
Burmese under the
JOVELLES and
PROTEGE prefixes and
British Shorthairs under
the CARINYA prefix.
Past breeds include Persian and Exotic Shorthair.
I began breeding pedigreed cats in Townsville, North
Queensland, approximately 37 years ago under the Kavadh
prefix. At this stage I bred Persians in several colours and
patterns but particularly specialised in "colour-bred" cream,
blue and blue cream Persians with considerable success. A
few years later, with my husband Terry, I began to breed
British S/H under the Carinya prefix and these cats were
very successful on the show bench. From there, we
embarked on a program to breed Exotic S/H's
experimentally. We continued to breed British and Exotics
until we moved to Toowoomba in 1994 when I was planning
to retire from breeding cats. This is where the love affair with
Burmese began. We continue to breed Burmese under the
Jovelles prefix with our daughter Carolynn but I have also
breed in partnership with a close friend under the Protege
Prefix. Over the past few years, we have once again
renewed our love affair with the British which are being bred
under the Carinya prefix.
JUDGING:
I became a Group 1 Judge in 1986 and an All-Breeds judge
in 1992. I have judged throughout Australia and New
Zealand on many occasions. As well as judging in South
Africa, I have also been fortunate to have numerous
opportunities to judge as a CFA Guest Judge throughout
Asia over the past few years. I am also on the All Breeds
Guest Judges Panel of ACFA USA.
More personally, I am married and have 3 grown children.
Two are married and there are currently 11 grandchildren
and one great grand daughter. I am a retired primary school
teacher and beside my family and cats, I love going to the
movies, reading, cooking and gardening. With Terry, we
also operate a small boarding cattery on our 6 acre property
in beautiful Toowoomba

CHERYL POLLOCK (FCCV)
DEBBIE CAMERON
(NSWCFA)
I have been involved in
the cat fancy for over
30
years
being
introduced to the cat
fancy by my mother. I
bred and showed Persians including silvers, pointed
varieties and bi colours and of course like many others,
devoted time working at cat shows.
My house has the bounce of the shorthair Singapura and
the beauty of the Persian, I have held a number of executive
positions within the cat fancy and previously, served on the
NSW CFA Management Committee. I am an All breeds
Judge and a Group 1 Tutor Judge. In my spare time I work
full time in local government managing a large team of
community workers and enjoy the company of my daughter,
my cats and dog, Eddie.
ALLAN DAVIES (CQI)
I became a member of the
FCC in 1979 after purchasing
my first pedigreed cat - a Blue
Colourpoints. I bred and
showed successfully under the
prefix Chryle for approximately
15 years. During this time, I
was an active member of the
Pedigreed Persian Cat Club, serving in various positions
on the committee. This close involvement at the club level
fuelled my interest in judging - and I completed my Group 1
license in 1990, and my group 3 license in 1993. I have
judged in all states of Australia, New
Zealand and Malaysia - this has helped me to broaden my
outlook, experience and knowledge base, particularly in
relation to various breed, quality and standards. Although
I no longer breed or show, I live with three Devon Rex, and
three Boston Terriers. My love of animals also extends to
my employment - for some 30 years I have worked,
primarily in veterinary surgeries, grooming
animals, specializing in cats. I expect my involvement with
cats will be a lifelong interest.
Bred my first purebred litter
when I was 16.
Have bred many different
breeds in conjunction with my
wife, Siamese, Persians,
Exotic Shorthair, Scottish
Folds, Bengals, Devon Rex, British Shorthair and Burmese.
Have held many positions within the cat fancy.
Became All Breeds judge in 2006.
