Students will use the Microsoft Office 2010 Suite. This course offers the opportunity for students to become Microsoft User Specialists by testing at the Specialist and Expert levels for Word and Excel. The Comprehensive level for PowerPoint and Outlook. The Specialist level for Access. These certification tests can be arranged by FertileBeltrami with the test costs being the responsibility of the student. Certification in all areas will earn the student the certification of Master Microsoft User Specialist. This certification CAN BE transferred into the 4-year liberal arts college systems. Students will create an electronic portfolio as their major project in this course. Grading Scale: . 93-100% = A 90-92% = A87-89% = B+ 83-86% = B 80-82% = B- Homework = 10% Tests, Quizzes, Projects = 90% 77-79% = C+ 73-76% = C 70-72% = C67-69% = D+ 63-66% = D 60-62% = D- Assessment: Students are also assessed following each chapter with a hands-on and theory test. Review information for all exams is posted in the on-line lesson plans and on Moodle. A Pre-test and Post-test for each software area is used to assess student achievement. The Post-test serves as a final test for each software application. Extra Credit: Extra credit is NOT an option in this course. Late Work: Late work is NOT accepted unless the student has been absent. If absent, the student will receive one extra day for each day missed to get the work handed in. A broken computer is NOT an excuse for late work—the student’s responsibility is to use a desktop machine, check out a “user machine” and get their computer to the technician for repair. Students are expected to retrieve their assignments from the lesson plans posted on the web or in the lesson plan directory. Any missing work not turned in prior to testing will result in no credit. Assignment Rules: Any work without a name is NOT accepted and put into the trash.
