Rick Holmes: Pastel: Work spontaneously Rick will demo a
pastel marine scene in a loose and vibrant way. He will
emphasise the importance of drawing skills as the basis of any
pastel activity. Rick, who belongs to many prestigious societies
and has won awards for his art

Demonstration/talk
Lynne Friel: Preparing for an Exhibition: How to present
your art to make it more saleable. A lively and interactive
session about current trends in mounting and framing. Bring
along one or two pieces of your work to experiment with.
Expect some surprises!

Keith Morton: Still LIfe: Acrylics. Keith will show how to
arrange props for a still life. You may bring along your own
items but he will have some for you to use as well. You provide
your own materials

Jamel Akib: Movement and Colour: How to create
movement in your work using vibrant colours. Jamel is a wellknown successful artist. He will demonstrate how he uses
pastels and acrylics to produce movement in his work. Be
prepared to be inspired!

Antonia Dewhurst:
Landscape: Antonia’s work is
inspired by music and colour. She works mainly with water
colour and is known for her landscapes and life drawings. She
will demonstrate how she develops her ideas from plein aire
sketches.

Rick Holmes: Wonderful Pastels: Rick says you are to
come with an open mind!! He will provide paper and board
where necessary but you must bring your own pastels,
preferably soft ones.

Sharon Hurst: Watercolour: Portraits and figures. Come
and join Sharon for an evening of fun! She is an entertaining
demonstrator as well as an accomplished artist! Using “weepy“
backgrounds, realistic skin tones and glazing, Sharon will

Antonia Dewhurst: Life Drawing: Bring along large
boards or paper and your own easel. You will need sketching
materials and your preferred medium. The cost of a model will
be included.

Mark Swan: Wax Sculpture: A user friendly medium for
sculpture work. Mark is a popular visitor to FAS. His work is
outstanding and he is known throughout the world. This time
Mark will show us how he works with wax. This is a medium he
uses a lot in his demonstrations. This is one not to miss.

Mike Topham: 2D and 3D Wire Work Mike’s wire pictures
are based on humorous things in everyday life and are often
connected with phrases, sayings and memories. Copper wire is
soldered to form the pictures. Mike will provide materials.

Julia Cassels: Watercolour : Out of Africa. Local artist
Julia is known for her loose and vibrant water colours. The
rhythms and shapes of Africa are her source material. Her
subjects include tribesmen and animals.

Melanie Cambridge: Oils: Oils fast and loose. Melanie
prefers to work plein air. Light and colour play a major role in
her work. Water is her favourite subject and she will
demonstrate how she uses oil to produce quick, loose scenes.

Phil Madley: Encaustic Work: This promises to be an
interesting workshop. Encaustic wax techniques are used to
create original and unique paintings. Coloured wax and an iron
for heat together with other heating implements will be used.

Soraya French: Acrylic: Painting in the City. Soraya is known
for her vivid use of colour using acrylic based multimedia and
will demonstrate a step by step cityscape scene.

Evening Demonstrations are free of charge to Members with a donation to the funds
