you have any concerns with your gas or electricity stop using it immediately and
contact us and we will send an engineer out right away.
Immediate action you can take
If your home has been flooded it will still be wet. Surface water may have been
removed but water will have soaked into walls and woodwork. To speed up the
drying process you can do the following:




Do not lay any fitted carpets or floor coverings.
Your kitchen may have had water damage. Do not remove it at this stage as
our insurers are assessing damage at the moment.
Do not redecorate. Walls may well be wet and need work to dry out properly.
Having your heating on low with the windows open slightly will help speed up
the drying process.
Donation and help with white goods etc
Helping Hands are coordinating donations and support for people who are looking
for help with white goods and sofas etc. They can be contacted on 0161 793 9419
and might be able to help.
£500 Flood relief payment
All residents whose home has been flooded are entitled to a £500 payment being
made by Salford Council. If you have not yet made a claim then Council staff will be
at the Broughton Trust on Heath Avenue from 9am on Monday morning, 4 January
2016.
What happens next?
Property insurers are currently assessing the damage to homes. During the week
commencing 4 January 2016 Salix Homes will contact each resident to update you
on what will happen next.
The first stage will be to properly dry your home. This may include using specialist
equipment that is currently being located. You should be aware that this may take
several weeks before the house is dry and this is why it is vital you do not put down
carpets, flooring or do any decoration until we speak with you further.
When the house is dry, work can start to repair the damage the water has caused.
We will discuss with you what this work will be when the assessments have been
completed.
If you have any concerns please contact Salix Homes on the Freephone
