James Bowie Middle School Addition and Renovation
Bowie Middle School Fine Arts/Competition Gymnasium Addition and
Renovation: The new fine arts halls and the gymnasium addition are complete
and being utilized by students. The construction team is working diligently to
complete the lobby area and restroom facilities for the addition. This area is
expected to be finished in late October.
The additions at Bowie Middle School include a new Theatre Arts classroom, Band,
Orchestra, and Choir Halls, and a Competition Gymnasium. General renovation on the
campus includes new flooring in the corridors and classrooms, student locker
refurbishment, selective HVAC system replacements, roofing replacement, selective
window replacement, replacement of the west side drive, elevator replacement, and
mechanical, electrical and plumbing system improvements throughout the facility.

Phase I

Project construction and renovation is complete.
Phase II






Site grading, grade beam construction and foundation installation is complete.
Installation of the structural steel and the roof system is complete.
Exterior wall construction is in progress and approximately 60% complete.
Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system installation is in progress and
approximately 40% complete.
Project construction will be complete in October of 2011.
Project close-out will begin in December 2011.
Wheeler Elementary Development Center Renovation
Renovations at Wheeler Elementary Development Center include installation of a fire
sprinkler system, fire alarm system replacement, public address system replacement,
electrical infrastructure upgrades, a GPS clock system, roof replacement, window
replacement, drainage improvements, and construction of a library and physical
education area from existing space.




Renovation of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems is complete.
Installation of flooring in the cafeteria and corridors is complete.
Installation of exterior windows is in progress and approximately 90%
complete.
Project construction and renovation will be complete in September of 2011.
Nimitz High School Additions & Renovation
The new additions at Nimitz High School include sixteen classrooms, six science
laboratories, an art classroom, three Life Skills classrooms and an ROTC/Vet
Tech/Horticulture building complete with a rifle range and a separate greenhouse.
General renovation on the campus includes upgrades to the Fine Arts complex and
finish improvements throughout the facility.

Project construction and renovation is complete.

Lady Bird Johnson Middle School
The eighth and newest middle school in Irving ISD has been constructed as a “Net Zero”
facility – designed to produce as much energy as it consumes. The facility houses a
traditional mix of classrooms and support areas; incorporates state-of-the-art, superefficient mechanical systems; and utilizes many sustainable building materials. This
effort is about the promotion and creation of environmentally conscientious learning for
the next generation of students.


Project construction is complete.
Construction of the project will be complete in August of 2011.
Stephen F. Austin Middle School Addition and Renovation
The additions at Austin Middle School include a new secure main entry and an
administration area expansion. General renovation on the campus includes new
flooring in the classrooms, ceramic tile wainscot for the corridors, student locker
refurbishment, selective HVAC system replacements, roofing replacement, track
replacement, and improvements to the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems
throughout the facility.


Project construction and renovation is complete.
Project close-out is in progress.
Lorenzo de Zavala Middle School Addition and Renovation
The addition at Lorenzo de Zavala Middle School includes a larger and separate
Competition Gymnasium. General renovation on the campus includes a GPS clock
system, selective roof replacement, fencing replacement, and reconstruction of the
foundation moisture protection system in select areas around the facility.


Project construction and renovation is complete.
Project close-out is in progress.
Brandenburg Elementary School Renovation
Renovations at Brandenburg Elementary School include construction of a secure main
entry, flooring replacement, relocation and expansion of the cafeteria stage, flooring

replacement, selective roof replacement, corridor foundation repair in the south wing, a
GPS clock system, fencing replacement, and public address system replacement.

Davis Elementary School Renovation
Renovations at Davis Elementary School include construction of a secure main entry,
relocation and construction of the administration area and library, corridor enclosure
between kindergarten wing and little Davis building, renovation of the kitchen, flooring
replacement, selective roof replacement, a GPS clock system, fencing replacement, and
storm drainage improvements.


Project construction and renovation is complete.

Good Elementary School Renovation
Renovations at Good Elementary School include construction of a secure main entry,
installation of a drop-off canopy, renovation of the kitchen, selective HVAC
replacement, flooring replacement, selective roof replacement, a GPS clock system,
fencing replacement, renovation of east parking lot and storm drainage improvements.


Project construction and renovation is complete.

Schulze Elementary School Renovation
Renovations at Schulze Elementary School include construction of a secure main entry,
renovation of the administration area, selective HVAC replacement, hardware
replacement, flooring replacement, selective roof replacement, a GPS clock system,
fencing replacement, and renovation to life safety infrastructure serving the facility.


Project construction and renovation is complete.

District-Wide Playground Renovation Project (Phase II)
Renovation efforts include installation of a single, fully accessible playground equipment
area at each of the District’s early childhood schools and elementary schools. The
project will provide an accessible route to the play equipment area and a rubber play
surface under the new play equipment.


Project construction is complete.
