Technology 202 Syllabus
This course will help get you started on your way to teaching your students ‘online’ using the programs
we use every day. All we are doing is combining them to form a ‘more perfect union’.
Agenda
Introductions: ITFs, Participants, short hello, school (10 minutes)
Complete online Questionnaire: Name, Accounts/Schools (Current/New?) (10 minutes)
Download/using MS 2007 (approx. 30 min)
During download complete the following:
Icebreaker: Pay Attention Video (8 minutes)
Consens-o-gram: How well do you feel about creating and using tools to teach an online lesson? (10
minutes)
Introduction to Programs: (Brief), Verify account status w/ DEstreaming, Gaggle. (5 minutes)
Using PowerPoint 2007 to make your lesson… yes… make all your lessons, then no need to ever make
them again…maybe only modify… (Approx 60 minutes)








Create a new slide, different layout

Go over ‘banner’ (top of PPTX 2007)
Add a hyperlink to the text

Giving you the Disk! (Intro to the Disk)
Opening of Gaggle.Net: Participants will open their Gaggle email, to verify they received email and
attachment from instructor. Also, the participants will be shown other location of documents. Using
Gaggle as your ‘Platform’ in your online learning lessons.







LUNCH 12-1pm
Opening of DEstreaming: Participants will login and discuss basic searches (ways to search for
videos/clips). We will get more in depth later in course and focus on assignment builder (20 minutes)
Let’s do an example: “Greenland” lesson for the participants (I-SR model) (send to participants, 30
minutes)
Brainstorming: How could you use these programs, why would you teach an extra lesson online?
Would your students be able to accomplish the tasks? Technology road blocks, time restraints!!! (20
minutes)
Interstate-Service Road model: Developed by Neil Hecht (10 minutes)
Use paper to make a concept map for your lesson (15 minutes)
Use ISR handout to plan (10 minutes)

Development.

This PowerPoint will give you all the tools to create your lesson, gaggle accounts, Assignment builder,
and Google Docs for Pre & Post Assessments.
This portion of the lesson will be done as if you were in an online setting. You will begin by opening the
Online Learning Module’ PowerPoint, and working using the PPT and completing your assignments.
Instructors will answer questions and give support when needed.
Research topic prior to beginning:
Assignments:
Within your specific or chosen content/subject area, you will:
PowerPoint: Create a minimum 10 slide PowerPoint lesson, with NCSCOS objectives in your subject
area, using grapics and supporing resources.
Destreaming: create an Assignment in ‘Assignment Builder’ with at least 2 video (segments) and 1
website.
Google: Create 2 Google docs that you could use as a Pre-assessment and a post-assessment.
Gaggle: Create 1 message board for assignment, 1 digital dropbox, 1 blog with intro about the lesson,
send email with your Google Pre-assessment URL.
MSWord: Write a ‘syllabi’ or ‘Overview’
Hyperlinks: Set hyperlinks from your PowerPoint lesson to Next Page, Home, ‘DE Assignment’, postAssessment URL, and supporting resources
If you do not teach a ‘specific’ subject, you must choose one for your final
project!

LUNCH (approx. 12-1pm)
All participants will demonstrate their lesson (PPT) and explain how/what their students will do to
accomplish lesson.
All participants will send their PPT as an attachment via Onslow County Email, with a brief description of
what/how their students will do the lesson.
All participants will make a post on our group message board.
