GEOLOGICAL SURVEY OF FINLAND APPENDIX 1, D3 1 (2) 6.10.2015 E/349/251/2015 ELEMENTS TO BE DETERMINED FROM SOLID POWDER SAMPLES AFTER CHOSEN LEACHING METHOD OR SAMPLES PROVIDED IN LIQUID PHASE (FAAS, GFAAS) The following requirements are defined for wet chemistry methods for solid powder samples of ore and test products or samples in liquid phase used mainly for operating the research activities. GTK will collect samples from bench and pilot scale tests. The samples will be process feeds, final products of the tests (concentrates, tailings), middlings (cleaner concentrates, cleaner tailings) or other process streams. GTK will filter and dry the samples. The samples for analysis are provided usually as solid powder samples in sample size of 2-20 g. But also solution samples are provided from the leaching tests with varying conditions. The producer of the analysis will fine grind (if needed), further prepare by chosen leaching method and chemically analyze the samples. The measuring can be taken place by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS) or electrothermal atomic absorption spectroscopy (GFAAS, with graphite tube). The tenderer must be able to carry out the sample preparation to process the provided sample suitable for analysis including for example leaching with HNO3, HF, HCIO4, aqua regia and bromine methanol. Table 1 provides the list of elements required and the detection limits that must be reached. Table 1. Minimum list of elements to be determined by wet chemistry method with required detection limits (DL) and fields to be filled in. Minimum criteria: Concentrations of all the listed elements will be determined with required practical detection limit (or better).
