Globalization Debate Preparation
Tuesday, October 13, 2015
Next week, as a class, we will be conducting a debate about globalization. We will
focus on one main question: Globalization: Is it a force for good? During the
course of the debate, to answer the main question, we will need to examine
several categories such as economics, politics, environment, gender issues, and
inequality.
I have come across 2 fairly helpful resources to get us started but you will need to
find a few more web based resources.
 debatepedia.idebate.org
- globalization, is it a force for good?
 www.forbes.com - the pro’s and con’s of globalization by Mike Collins
 www.globalpolicy.org/globalization
This week we will be conducting research to support either side of the debate.
Your task today is to conduct some nonbiased preliminary research on the “pro’s
and con’s” of globalization to gather a base of understanding on this issue. Create
and share a google document which answers the following questions:
1.
2.
3.
4.
What is globalization?
What are at least 5 arguments for globalization?
What are at least 5 arguments against globalization?
Gather several arguments for and against globalization for the following
categorical topics: economics, politics, environment, culture & society,
gender issues, and inequality
