Course Outline: Participants learned about the latest information on Cochlear Implants. Effective
Clinical and Educational Methods for use by therapists and teachers were covered. Enhancement
of auditory brain development and neuroplasticity in children with severe hearing loss that utilize
Cochlear implants and hearing aids was emphasized.
Learning Outcomes: At the conclusion of the workshop participants will be able to:

described in detail. Associated neurological impairments were covered. Strategies to enhance
intervention in working with children and adults with Tourette Syndrome were presented.

Course Outline: Participants learned about use of the Brain Gym methodology in working with
children with disabilities. Use of movement with intention was emphasized in providing therapeutic
and educational services. There was considerable focus on promoting optimal learning by using the
principals of Brain Gym techniques

Coarse Outline: Participants learned about both assessment and therapeutic intervention for toe walking in
children. Effective therapy activities and techniques were discussed and demonstrated. Case studies were presented
that demonstrate effective intervention strategies. Interdisciplinary techniques were covered to ensure stabilization
and carryover.

About the Series
The CCC series was developed by Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center in 2009 to assist Western New York
Occupational & Physical Therapy professionals in keeping current with new developments in the area of pediatrics.
Presentations emphasize hands-on, therapy-focused techniques. This series is presented by practicing clinicians for
clinicians — low on lecture and high on practical applications. Please join us for our CCC workshops that are being
offered at a central location, during convenient after-work hours, and at a reasonable cost.
Dates/Times/Place
Workshops are held on weekdays (M-Th) from 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. at Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center, 50 E. North
Street. Buffalo, NY, 14203. Parking is available in rear of building at no charge on a first come basis. Additional
parking is available in the parking ramp directly across the street from Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center at a cost of
$5.00.

Continuing Education Information
Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is approved by the American Occupational
Therapy Association to provide Continuing Education programs in
Occupational Therapy. Each workshop is offered for 0.2 CEUs. The
assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course
content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA.
Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for
Physical Therapy as an approved provider of Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant Continuing
Education.

The cost of each workshop is:
 $35 if payment is received seven days in advance
 $40 if payment is received less than seven days in advance
- All 8 workshops may be purchased at a package price of $160. Payment can be made by credit card or check
(payable to Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center). Fees paid are non-refundable.
