VIRSA - The fashion Show Productions Organized by: Department of Humanities COMSATS Institute of Information Technology has been conducting a students’ week in every semester for years. This week provides a great opportunity to the students to show their abilities and expertise in organizing events and performing in them. This semester the students’ week was yet again a huge success. To this success a generous contribution was given by the Avant Garde Productions by organizing a melodious, artistic and colorful event called VIRSA. On Tuesday evening dated March 25, 2014 from 1600 hrs to 1800 hrs in Seminar hall, EE department, CIIT Islamabad, the stage was set for this grand event with eye-catching decorations and dazzling lights. The theme of the event was Weddings in Pakistan. It basically aimed to revive, among the students, the cultural beauty of Pakistani weddings. For this, a catwalk was conducted in which the male and female models walked on the stage, dressed up as traditional brides and grooms in the attires provided by Jalwa Fashion Boutique. Wardrobe by: Jalwa Boutique Makeover by: Naila’s Saloon The evening began with the melodious voice of Harris and the highly talented guitarist Shehryar Kazi. They both put a performance that got the crowd sing with them with full enthusiasm and excitement. When the performance ended, the most anticipated part of the show began and the first male model stepped to the stage and was welcomed by a huge round of applause by the students. The first model was followed by other many male models, show-casing their designs of sherwanis and collecting appreciations from the ones watching them pass by gracefully. As the male models were done, the female models wearing Long gowns with delicate embroidery snatched all the attention. Their make-up and hair was done by a famous beauty salon of Islamabad; Naila’s beauty Salon. The walk was concluded by the beautiful show stopper Sidra Abbasi who happens to be a student of CIIT like all other male and female models. She in her elegant dress gave a magnetizing end to the walk. After the conclusion of the catwalk, the singers were again invited to add some more heat to the already heated event. Shehryar Qazi performed a solo. His mesmerizing voice left the audience spellbound. Then the other solo performers came up to the stage to show their talent and gather appreciations from the audience. All were good in their way and did their best to keep the audience entertained and engaged. Stopper Sidra Abbasi In the event, everyone was seen doing their part of the job with full devotion. From photographers to the Ushers, everyone was professionally playing their parts and was contributing their best to the show. In the end of the show the chief organizer Sana Anwaar showed up on the stage later followed by all the organizers and participants of the event as well as the teacher (Ms. Rabia Mahmood) under whose supervision this event took place Farhan and Haris showing theirselves on the ramp. VIRSA night was a great and fun night. Students enjoyed the evening a lot and the teachers also had a pretty good time. Such events should be encouraged in educational institutions so that the students can also show their talents in such unique activities. It gave the students to enhance their sense of creativity and innovation as well as it gave them a platform to show their talent in modeling. It was a great concept and effort for the cultural display of Pakistan and it would help the students in understanding their culture in a broader spectrum.
