Short biography for : Rabih R. Azar, MD, MPH, FACC
Dr. Rabih Azar is Professor of Medicine at the St. Joseph University and Chief of the
Cardiology Division at the Hotel Dieu de France Hospital in Beirut, Lebanon. He
received his MD degree from the St. Joseph University and he did his training at the
University of Connecticut and at the Harvard Medical School in the USA. He holds 3
American Boards in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. He
also holds a Master of Public Health degree from the John’s Hopkins University. He
was assistant professor of medicine at the University of California San Francisco
prior to his return to Lebanon. Dr. Azar is also president of the Middle-Eastern
Cardiovascular Institute for Research and Education, a non-profit organization
aiming at promoting clinical research and continuous medical education in the
Middle East.
Dr. Azar is an expert in coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndromes, antiplatelets, lipid lowering and anti-inflammatory therapies. He is the author of several
manuscripts and textbook chapters related to these topics. He was a member of the
editorial board of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and he is
currently member of the editorial board of the Canadian Journal of Cardiology. He is
a regular abstract reviewer for the Meeting of the American College of Cardiology in
the category of coronary artery disease and he is a reviewer for several cardiology
journals such as Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology,
American Journal of Cardiology, Atherosclerosis, International Journal of Cardiology,
Canadian Journal of Cardiology, Catheterization and Cardiovascular
Interventions…Over the last 20 years, he presented the results of his research
studies at almost every national and International meeting.
