RIVER VIEW NEWS 27th November 2015 Headteacher’s Message I have been so proud of the children of River View over the last few weeks. On Monday they amazed both Chris Stokes and myself with their talents with every child taking part in the Anti Bullying Talent Contest and I am sure they will be amazing in front of the parents on this afternoon. The children have been so respectful during the silence for the victims of France and observing the one minute silence for Rembrance day. I have also received emails from Tutbury Castle and the Viking experience commending the children on their behaviour and politeness while on their school visit a true credit to both yourselves as parents and the staff of River View. As Christmas approaches there will be many more opportunities for the children to show off their excellent behaviour and make us all proud on trips to the pantomime and to see Santa. We are in need of volunteers if parents are interested please put your name down at the office. PLEASE NOTE: NO bicyles or scooters on the school playground. Winter is coming early at River View children will need to wear warm clothes on Monday 30th November: hat, gloves, warm coat and sensible shoes. They do not need to be in school uniform, they need to be in jeans or trousers. Visit to York The children were brilliant ambassadors for Riverview...we were told by the Jorvik Centre that we were the best group of children they had ever had! The children had a fabulous day learning about the Vikings, understanding their living conditions and work ethics. We also took a walk along The Shambles where we could experience walking along cobbled paths with shops overhanging above our heads! It was a truly wonderful experience had by all, children and staff alike. Thank you to all our parents for their continued support encouraging their children to participate in outdoor learning experiences. Health & Safety – Reminder It has been brought to our attention that some people are parking and driving dangerously when dropping off and collecting children from River View. Please be aware at all times of children around the entrance and surrounding areas. Please do not block any of our neighbours drives when dropping off and collecting your children from school. On Monday afternoon, the whole school enjoyed our antibullying performances by all classes. Our judges, Mrs Whitehouse and Mr Stokes had a really difficult time trying to pick a winner from both key stages. However, after deliberating they chose Mrs Griffith's class, in Year 1 and Year 5 who performed as a whole year group. The winners received a large box of chocolates for the class to share and will be performing for their parents this Friday in a special assembly. A big well done though to all of our wonderful performers. Carol Service – St Peter’s Church, 16th December 2015 Years 3,4,5 and 6 Can you please provide a piece of festive headgear for the Carol Service, Santa hats, Reindeer, Elves etc. Many thanks
