Due Date: _______________ This book report should be written in a newspaper style format. You may use a computer, or use the template provided. The book that you have read must be a nonfiction book and must be on your lexile level. Please include all of the information below in your newspaper book report. You must include the following: Title/Heading o (5pts) Create a title for your newspaper. It should be related to the book. Include the date. o (5pts) List the author, number of pages, and what type of text structure your book is (Informational Non-fiction or Narrative-Nonfiction). Place this information at the top of your newspaper. Articles-pretend you are a remarkable journalist when you write your articles. You will be graded on the voice trait of writing for this book report as well as the content. Voice is the sound of YOU coming through your writing; it is what gives your writing personality, flavor, and style. So as the journalist, make your articles sound unique and interesting! o You have witnessed events in your story. Pretend you are a journalist and write a news article from a journalist’s perspective. This article should summarize an important event or some type of subject matter learned within the story. Choose a part that really interested you. Each feature will be worth 15 points each for a total of 30 points. Each of the features should contain 4-5 sentences. o Book Review-Write a review for your book. Explain your likes and dislikes. To whom would you recommend this book? Create a headline for you review. o Editorial-Choose an issue in your book and take a position on it. Include your letter to the editor and describe how you feel about the issue. o Advertisement-Using a place FROM YOUR BOOK, create an advertisement for visiting that particular place. Describe what it looks like, and tell why someone would want to visit it. You may include a small picture of the place if you wish. o Obituary-Write an obituary for someone who may have died in your book. Summarize who they were and include a little bit about their life. Include a picture of the deceased person (it can be drawn or printed). Photograph- You are to draw a picture of your favorite part or piece of information from the book, or you are to draw a portrait of your favorite person in your book.
