Reactivity of diaziridines Dr. Tomáš Martinů, Department of Organic Chemistry, University of Chemistry and Technology Prague Our laboratory focuses on the research of new stable and metastable small molecules. For example, we have recently discovered novel derivatives of acetic acid - the cyclic XCN2COOH (X=halogen), or the simplest N-heterocyclic carbene – the triatomic CN2. We are offering a position in our laboratory for the study of radical and nitrenic reactivity of diazirines – the cyclic isomers of diazo compounds. Our recent publications are: Org. Lett. 2014,5482; Org. Lett 2014,852; Tetrahedron Lett. 2013,6764. Flavins as catalysts of electrophilic reactions Assoc. Prof. Radek Cibulka, Department of Organic Chemistry, University of Chemistry and Technology Prague The ability of flavins (vitamin B2 derivatives) to activate various agents for chemical transformations is utilized in many types of enzymes (Eur. J. Org. Chem. 2015, 915-932). The aim of the work is to develop new catalytic procedures based on artificial flavin derivatives which can be applied in organic synthesis, especially in electrophilic reactions. New suitable flavin catalysts as well as corresponding NADH models will be synthesized within the project.
