My name is Debbie Bowman AKA “Luke’s mom”. I am honored to be co-chair for the 12th Annual Jumping Jack Golf Tournament benefiting Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD). On July 15th, 2011, my husband, Chad and I were devastated to learn that our seemingly healthy, fun loving son Luke was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). We were terrified to learn that there were no effective treatments or cure for this fatal childhood disease. Thankfully, we were quickly connected to Angela and Darrell Knight through a mutual friend. We connected with the Knights instantly and Jack and Luke formed a brotherly bond. They taught us that we did have reason to hope! Through PPMD we learned that a positive momentum toward a treatment for our son was building. At the time of Luke’s diagnoses there had been a couple of drug trials for DMD. Less than three years later, eleven drug trials for medications to treat DMD can be counted and several more are close to the human trial phase. The successes of the Jumping Jack Golf Tournament and PPMD have played a vital role in the advances toward a better, longer life for Luke and all who suffer from DMD. We are in awe of the generous support from family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, sponsors and participants for the Jumping Jack Golf Tournament over the years. With continued support, we can continue to fund promising research and ensure expedited approval of effective treatments for our sons and all who suffer from DMD. The 12th Annual Jumping Jack Golf Tournament promises to be a wonderful experience for the golfer and non-golfer alike. Please join us as we enjoy top-ranked golfing, spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains, delicious food and wine, fabulous silent and live auctions and the chance to make a huge difference. Together, we CAN and we WILL End Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy! Thank you for your support of the 12th annual Jumping Jack Golf Tournament and the hope it brings to our DMD community. Sincerely, Debbie Bowman
