HEALTH AND SAFETY – THE USE OF BUGGIES
Wentworth Castle Gardens has 2 golf buggies for the use of
visitors who are unable to walk around the Gardens or up to Stainborough
Castle.
Buggies can be dangerous if driven without due care. Please drive buggies
with consideration for other visitors and for your own safety. As the borrower
of the buggy it is your responsibility to ensure that you understand how to
operate it safely and that you adhere strictly to the following safety points:



















All buggy users must hold a valid full UK driving licence.
No person under the age of 18 may operate a buggy.
No alcohol to be drunk before using the buggy.
The buggy user must demonstrate that they can operate the buggy safely to
a member of staff before taking the buggy into the Gardens.
The buggies must be driven no faster than walking pace for the safety of
other visitors to the Gardens.
Under 18’s riding on the buggy must be supervised by the buggy driver.
Please follow the recommended routes shown on the Gardens map.
Drivers should be aware that children play freely in the Gardens and may
emerge from side paths at anytime.
Buggies can speed up quickly travelling downhill. The buggy user MUST
keep their foot on the brake at all times when travelling down from
Stainborough Castle.
Wet areas and ground under repair must be avoided.
Brakes should be applied gently to avoid skidding.
No standing on a buggy while it is in motion.
Hands and feet must be kept inside the buggy at all times.
Caution must be exercised when reversing.
Caution must be exercised on all slopes and inclines.
Always apply the parking brake when leaving the buggy and remove the
key.
Do not attempt to drive buggies over/across any steep slopes.
Please inform the Visitor Centre staff of any faults with the buggy.
