Degree Information
Zayed University International College
The International College at Zayed University is open to Emirati and expatriate students.
Students applying for admission to Zayed University’s International College are eligible for
admission to any of the bachelor level programs available.
Admission to the Academic Bridge Program (English language preparation), is not open
to international students.

Admissions Requirements
Degree Information
Admission to the International College at Zayed University is highly competitive.
Cumulative academic grade point average, language proficiency, standardized tests, letters of
recommendation, personal statement and extra-curricular activities play an important role in
the admission decision. The Office of Admissions may also request a personal interview with
the candidate to complete the profile. Meeting the minimum requirements does not
guarantee admission.
Minimum Admissions Requirements:
A candidate must be at least 17 years of age on 31 August of the entering year and have
graduated from an accredited secondary school.




National General Secondary School Certificates (Arts or Science): Minimum required
average is the equivalent of 70 percent.
IGCSE, GCSE, GCE: Completion of a minimum of five subjects at the GCSE/
IGCSE Ordinary level and two subjects at the GCE Advanced Subsidiary level with a
“C” standing or better in every subject;
IB: Certification of completion of the International Baccalaureate program with at
least five courses successfully completed. No minimum academic standard has been
established for each course; rather, the candidate’s entire academic record will be
considered.

Language Proficiency
The language of instruction at Zayed University is English. Because students' success
is closely tied to English proficiency, all applicants are required to provide proof of
English proficiency:

 TOEFL minimum scores: 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) and 79
(IBT).
 IELTS minimum score: 6.0 in each band.
Since Arabic is part of the curriculum, all accepted students will be given an Arabic language
placement test at the beginning of the first semester to determine which Arabic courses they
will take.
How to Apply
Degree Information
Please read the Application Form Instructions section below before completing the
application form. You must submit all of the following items:
1. The Application
Complete all sections. Incomplete applications will not be considered. See
“Application Form Instructions” below for further information.
2. The Application Fee
A non-refundable application fee of AED 250 should be included with your
application (cash or credit card only). Applications will not be considered or
reviewed until this fee has been submitted.
3.
Transcripts
The application booklet contains the transcript request form you should use to request
official high school (upper secondary school) transcripts from your school. The
transcript should include all courses in progress, as well as those completed. These
records must be sent directly from your school to Zayed University. All non-English
transcripts must be translated into English.
4.
Language Proficiency
a. English Proficiency - Students for whom English is not the primary
language of instruction must provide scores either the Test of English as a
Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing
System (IELTS). Minimum acceptable TOEFL scores are 550 on the paperbased test, 213 on the computer-based test and 79 on the Internet-based test
(IBT). Minimum IELTS score is 6.0 in each band.
b. Arabic Proficiency - Since Arabic is part of the curriculum, all accepted
students will be given an Arabic language placement test at the beginning of
the first semester to determine which Arabic courses they will take.

Standardized Test Scores
If you have taken either the SAT-I or the American College Test (ACT) please
request that the results be forwarded to the Office of Admissions, Zayed University.
The SAT-I or ACT (American College Test) are not required for admission but are
strongly recommended. Results are reviewed in conjunction with your academic
record and are never the sole factor used to determine eligibility.
6. Personal Statement
Please write a personal statement (250-500 words) outlining your desire to study at
Zayed University. This personal statement is your opportunity to show your interest
in Zayed University and our degree offerings. You may wish to choose from any of
the following topics:
 What distinguishes you as a unique candidate for admission to Zayed University?

Why do you want to study the major you have selected?
What specific background or experience leads you to choose a degree
specializing in the major selected?
What will you bring to the student body and why will this be important to other
students?
7.
Recommendations
Two forms are provided as part of this application for use in requesting
recommendations. You should complete the top part and provide a form to each of
your references, who will then provide their comments directly to Zayed University.
At least one form must be completed by a teacher. The other form can be completed
by a teacher or school counselor. Additional recommendations are welcomed and
should be sent directly to Zayed University.

Other required documents:
a. 2 passport-sized photographs.
b. Copy of passport and Residence Visa (if resident in the UAE).
Once you have completed your application, please return it by mail to the Office of
Admissions (address above).

Degree Information
Complete all sections. All items must be filled in. If an item doesn’t apply to you, please
write “n/a”. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
1. Enrollment Information: Please indicate your program/major of choice. A

2. Personal Information: Please indicate your name the way you want it to appear on
your records. The name and contact information of one parent or guardian must be
provided.
3. Educational Background: List all secondary schools you have attended (grades 10,
11 and 12) and the dates of attendance. You MUST also list all universities and/or
colleges, if any, that you have attended and the dates of attendance. All information,
including previous colleges and universities attended, is required even if you are
applying as a first-year student.
4.
Language Proficiency: Provide a fair assessment of your English and Arabic
proficiency. Indicate the primary language of instruction during grades 10, 11 and 12.
If you have taken the TOEFL or IELTS, please indicate the score and date taken.
Any questions related to the TOEFL/IELTS requirement should be directed to the
Office of Admissions.
5.
Standardized Test Scores: If you have taken either the SAT-I or ACT, please type
the scores and date taken. If you haven’t taken either one, please write “N/A”
6.
Personal Statement: A 250-500 word essay outlining your desire to study at Zayed
University is required for admission. Please use your own words.
