PRONE PADDLEBOARD  SAND CASTLE CONTEST  BASKETBALL SKILLS
LOCATION: All events start and finish at Sunset Park located 1 mile northwest of the Hotel Del Coronado on Ocean Boulevard next
to Gate 5, Naval Air Station North Island.
GENERAL INFORMATION: Same day results. Toilets, shower, aid station, drinking water, and safety personnel provided. The
City of Coronado and the Optimist Club of Coronado encourage the participation of disabled individuals in the activities and programs
provided in the city. Individuals with disabilities who require reasonable accommodation in order to participate should contact the
Sports Fiesta Events Coordinator at (619) 920-8653.
ENTRY FEES: Adults: Triathlon: $25.00. 5K Run: $25.00. One-Mile Rough Water Swim: $25.00. Prone Paddleboard: $25.00.
Participants 18 years and younger: $10 per event. Walk-on entry fee on day of event: $30.00 each event. Register on Active.com or
use entry form on reverse side. Make check or money order payable to “Coronado Optimist Foundation, Inc.” and mail with entry
form to: Sports Fiesta, P.O. Box 180251, Coronado, CA 92178-0251.
AWARDS: First three finishers in each sex, age category specified on entry form. Sand Castle Contest, Award for first three teams.
Triathlon: Additional award for first over-all male and female.
T-SHIRTS: One cotton T-Shirt imprinted, “43rd Annual Coronado Optimist SPORTS FIESTA 2014,” provided to each entrant.

TRIATHLON: 7:00 a.m., Sunday, August, 31, 2014. A 400-yard ocean swim, a 1-mile run on the beach, and a 4-mile bike race,
continuous action in that order. Swim and run legs at Coronado’s North Beach. Bike leg on NAS North Island. Check-in table opens
at 6:00 a.m. Day of race registration accepted until 6:45 a.m. Triathlon limited to first 300 entries received. Helmets required for
bike portion of event. Course briefing provided on day of event. For further information, call (619) 920-8653.
PRONE PADDLEBOARD: 8:00 a.m., Sunday, August 31, 2014. For youths ages 18 years and under only. A one-mile, ocean
paddle over a closed course, around three buoys anchored off Coronado’s North Beach. Check-in table opens at 7:00 a.m. Day of
race registration accepted until 7:45 a.m. Course briefing provided on day of race. For further information, call (510) 326-7404.
5K RUN: 9:00 a.m., Sunday, August 31, 2014. A 5,000 meter run over a flat, fast course on paved streets on NAS North Island.
Check-in table opens at 8:00 a.m. Day of race registration accepted until 8:45 a.m. Bibs and course briefing provided on day of race.

ONE-MILE ROUGH WATER SWIM: 10:00 a.m., Sunday, August 31, 2014. A one-mile, ocean swim over a closed triangular
course, around three ocean buoys anchored off Coronado’s North Beach. Check-in table opens at 9:00 a.m. Day of race registration

SAND CASTLE CONTEST: 10:00 a.m., Sunday, August 31, 2014. A 3-5 member team event limited to first 20 entrants.
Coronado’s North Beach vicinity of Tower #5. Check-in table opens at 9:00 a.m. Day of contest registration accepted until 9:45 a.m.
