Dear Parents/Caregivers Junior Reports and parent Teacher Interviews – Cycle 2 Wednesday Junior reports and interviews are timed to coincide with the 6 monthly and yearly anniversary of when a child started school. This is done to match the National Standards. This means if your child is in the junior school and didn’t get a report last term they will this term. The reports will come home today, including instructions on how to book an interview. If the times available don’t work for you please contact your child’s teacher to arrange an alternative. We hope every parent will be able to attend an interview. Reminders The school day starts at 8:55 and we do appreciate children being on time for roll call, and to start the day ready to learn. You wait patiently when others are talking before sharing your ideas and can be relied upon to put your hand up rather than calling out. Well done for showing respect for yourself and others by being a courteous student in Room 17. Room 18 – Heneli – Enthusiasm Always having a positive attitude towards maths. You show great thinking at maths time and you are willing to share your knowledge and learning with a partner. Well done! Room 19 – Logan – Diligence Thinking carefully about the sounds in words as you write. You are making good progress with your spelling, keep it up! Room 20 – Luke – Responsibility Being a super responsible student who always makes good choices in and outside the classroom. You can always be trusted to get the job done no matter what the task. Thanks for being such an amazing student in Room 20! Room 21 – James – Confidence Becoming more confident to speak up in the class and answer the roll in Te Reo. Ka pai! SPORTS RESULTS Hockey Pukete Eagles played against Te Totara Tigers in the glorious sunshine and won 5-0. It was a great game to watch! You have all been listening to Ms Herron and putting into practice what she has been teaching you. You are certainly improving each week. You showed great skill getting the ball wide for each other, backed up by some terrific support play as well. You all kept to your positions this week and this helped you come away with another great win. Well done team, keep up that fantastic drive you all have! Goals were scored by Ryan (2), Kaitlyn (2) and Tiana (1). Player of the day went to Steph for trying and trying and trying to score a goal. Well done Steph your effort will soon pay off! Pukete Seals played Te Totara on Saturday and won three – nil. Goals were scored by Brianna, George, and Brooke, great work guys. The Seals had to work hard in attack to keep possession of the ball, displaying great team work. Te Totara’s defence was brilliant and we had several fabulous attempts at goals which unfortunately did not make it. Brianna ‘s goal was well played in a very congested goal area with Te Totara also hitting the ball into the goal. Player of the day and the Toyworld voucher was awarded to Macie (pictured) for displaying great courage and determination. Well done Macie! Pukete Smurfs played Ngahinapouri Greensticks on Saturday and won 4-1. It was great to see the team putting into play the use of the wings in defence avoiding the bounce back of the ball when shooting up the middle. Great teamwork within the strikers! Breanna, Kaia, Emma and Sophie! Great stuff girls. Kaia scored 3 goals and Breanna 1. Ewan, Jordon and Gurkarat getting themselves involved in the game a lot more this week. Tackling and chasing after the ball. Player of the day was awarded to Gurkarat. A new team member and his first year at hockey. He brings a smile to practice and the game each week. He’s very eager to learn and is gaining confidence each week which is evident in his game. He got stuck in and attacked the ball and followed through, coming very close to scoring a goal. Keep up the great work Gurkarat. Jordon got Smurf of the day ,she displayed courage by getting involved a lot more this week, demanding the ball and flicking it off to our waiting strikers. Great job. Start believing in yourself Jordon, the Smurfs are backing you all the way. Mason and Lily played a super game. Feeling very proud of our team. We have a big team and I love the way you are all so considerate of each other! Go Smurfs! Good luck for Saturday! Flippaball Team A narrowly lost their first game against St Josephs Dolphins 2:3 and Joel was awarded Player of the day for fantastic work in goal! Their second game was also a tight game against Rotouna Dolphins losing at the last minute 3:4 Bailey got player of the day for an afternoon of fantastic games and awesome goals. Team K won their game against St. Columbus Gold 3:1 and Ayla-Rose was awarded her second player of the day certificate for continuing to show enthusiasm and for great team work. Team K lost their last game to the Te Rapa Torpedoes and Heather was awarded player of the day for an amazing game in defence! Kt was given player of the day from Te Rapa for an amazing game in goalie. Well done Kt! A big thanks to SKy City who have been able to supply the teams with Player of the day certificates. well done teams keep up the great work! CONGRATULATIONS TO SOPHIE CLARK Room 6, who “double graded” in Tai Kwon Do last night moving from a yellow belt to a green belt. “Double grading” is very rare so well done Sophie! COMMUNITY NEWS Squiggle is an exciting holiday programme that has a variety of fun and educational activities that will keep your children happy during the school holidays. We’ll keep active by playing sports and games, we’ll be creative by making Matariki arts and crafts, we’ll learn about financial literacy and the difference between ‘needs and wants’, we’ll try out a few science experiments as well as make cool Young Engineers motorised models. We’ll also learn a bit about first aid with St Johns and head off to Leap and the movies – and that’s just to get us started! There’s heaps more! Squiggle is OSCAR approved by Ministry of Social Development.
