FREE ‘ACCESS’ PROJECT WORKSHOPS – CULTURAL AWARENESS ON THE
FRONTLINE
 How do you feel if service users speak only basic, or no English?
 What if you suspect that they are being harmed, abused or neglected,
but are not engaging with services that could help safeguard them?
 How does safeguarding need to take account of ethnicity, culture and
faith?
 Are you actively addressing any professional development needs you
may have in relation to cultural awareness and competence?
If you feel in any way uncertain about these areas, you might like to join one of
our ‘ACCESS’ project multi-agency workshops which are being provided free of
charge with funding from the EU, the East of England Local Government
Association and Regional Safeguarding Improvement Programme partners.
‘ACCESS’ stands for Acquiring Cultural Competence, Equalities, Successful
Safeguarding.
Most of our workshops are led by local Black and Minority Ethnic Community
Organisations with experience and knowledge of migration, culture, faith and
migrants’ attitudes to using UK public services.
By the end of this ACCESS Project workshop, you should feel more confident
about your engagement and interaction with culturally diverse women and
their families.
Places are limited and ESCB and ESAB will allocate places to ensure that there
is a wide representation of agencies at each event.
