Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts Arts Enhancement Spring 2014 Overview: SRCSA is pleased to announce its arts enhancement afterschool courses for spring 2014, facilitated by the School for the Arts Community Organization! Our after-school program is designed to provide families who wish to further supplement their child’s art education with a variety of reasonably priced, extracurricular courses conveniently offered on campus. The after-school arts enhancement program is separate from and in addition to the broad arts curriculum already offered during the school day to all students. The tuition for the program goes directly to pay the instructors and sustain the program (funds do not go to the school or SACO). Scholarships: A limited number of partial scholarships are available for families who are facing financial hardships. If you would like to apply for a scholarship, fill out the class registration form and attach a brief letter explaining your request. Schedule: Classes start the week of February 24, 2014. Theater Games will have 10 sessions total; the choir classes will have 12 sessions. There will be no classes on days when school is not in session (March 17–21). Disfruta: For convenience, the Disfruta schedule is also attached. This after-school Spanish language program held at SRCSA follows the same schedule as Arts Enhancement, beginning on February 24 and running for a total of 10 class sessions. The Arts and Crafts class begins on April 4 and includes five class sessions. How to Register for Arts Enhancement or Disfruta: Registration is due to the office no later than Friday, February 21. Classes are filled on a first-come, firstserved basis. The registration form must be complete and payment provided before a student will be registered for a class. Late registrations, incomplete forms, forms without payment, or payment without forms will not be processed. Refund Policy: You may withdraw from a class and receive a full refund until February 28. Partial refunds may be given through March 7. No refunds, credits, or transfers will be given after March 7. C l a s s O f fe r in g s CHORAL PROGRAM SACO is pleased to introduce SRCSA’s new after-school choral program, which is partially funded by last year’s Silent Auction fundraiser. This program is a pilot designed to bring additional choral music to SRCSA. The after-school choral program will provide students the opportunity to sing contemporary as well as classic material as a group. While good fun and exposure to different music is the primary goal, students will also learn about breathing, vowel placement, ear training and other tools to help them not only sing together as a group, but to generally be present and aware of their body’s as well as their minds. There will be attention on themselves as an individual and how that works within the group. In this program (especially for Grades 6 - 8) there will also be emphasis on the culture and history of the music. Not only names, and times, but empathy for where it came from, and what it is saying.
