Course Overview
This full day conference is held jointly by Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and
Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson School of Nursing. The focus of the conference is
contemporary clinical issues impacting nursing practice. This conference is targeted to
advanced practice nurses in Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Practitioner roles.
Conference Objectives:
Describe the impact of healthcare reform on hospitals and clinicians.
Identify strategies to optimize patient care in challenging healthcare environment.
Identify current and future applications of pharmacogenomics.
Explore current treatments for HIV.
Identify best practices and pharmacological management of infectious disease in the
immunocompromised patient.
Discuss the latest updates in diagnosis and treatment of women with heart disease.
Purpose
To provide a forum to discuss current healthcare environment challenges facing advanced
practice nursing and nurse led strategies to improve practice, patient care and outcomes.

Nursing accreditation:
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is an approved provider of Continuing Nursing
Education by the PA State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American
Nurses credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
A maximum of 6.1 nursing contact hours will be awarded for this program. Participants
may attend entire morning or entire afternoon for partial credit. Pharmacology credits will
be 3.75 for the full day program.
