Robert Maxwell was born about 1731 in Scotland and died IN 1792 in
East Nottingham Township, Chester County PA. He married ELIZABETH
----- about 1757 in Chester County. She was born about 1740.
Robert served as a Private in Captain James McDowell's Company, 4th
Battalion, Chester County Militia. He served seven months in the
Artillery, and is listed as having received depreciation pay after the
American Revolution.
His will is dated December 30,1791 and Probated November 13, 1792.

Thomas M. Maxwell, a son of Robert and Elizabeth Maxwell, was born
in 1766 in East Nottingham Township, Chester County,PA and died about
1798. He was last reported about to cross the Monongahela River in flood
stage and it is supposed that he drowned. His widow and six children,
accompanied by her parents, moved from PA into Harrison County VA a year
or two later and made their home on the farm of Colonel William Lowther
on Lost Creek.
Thomas married Jane Lewis April 17, 1785 in Near Germantown, PA in
East Vincent Reformed Church. Jane, a daughter of Alexander and Mary
(Smith) Lewis, was born July 15, 1767 in Chester County, PA and died
October 20, 1835 in Harrison County VA.

Rock Mountain University, Denver, CO. For eleven years he taught school
in various states, and practiced medicine four years before opening a
medical practice at Morgantown, WV in 1902.
