Pioneer Secondary School Haze Management Documents 2015 Annex F PIONEER SECONDARY SCHOOL HAZE MANAGEMENT SOP FOR HAZEMOVEMENT WHEN PSI READING IS IN ‘HAZARDOUS’ BAND 1. Instruction for where classes are to move will be made over the PA system. 2. Classes already using the air-conditioned rooms will remain in the rooms. Classes that are near available air-conditioned rooms will be informed to move to those venues. There may be multiple classes in large air-con venues and classes may be split into several smaller air-con venues. 3. Other classes not assigned an air-conditioned venue will move to the Hall. 4. Classes going to the Hall will follow route laid out in the customised ‘map of movement’ pasted on the wall of their classroom to minimise distance students have to travel outdoors to designated rooms. 5. Classes will move to the Hall by staggered times for level of the building as announced over the PA system to prevent congestion at entrance of Hall. 6. Hall shutters drawn down except for entrance to the hall. 7. After every 2 periods, classes in the Hall will be selected to go to the air-conditioned rooms while those initially there will go to the Hall. 8. Subject teachers are to accompany students to the venues. 9. Students are to be supervised at all times to ensure that students who have breathing difficulties are attended to promptly. 10. Classes return to their normal venues to resume normal activities only when instructions are given. Note If the haze condition is hazardous during flag raising, all classes will assemble in the Hall. Selected classes will then be sent to air-conditioned venues from the Hall. Annex G PIONEER SECONDARY SCHOOL HAZE MANAGEMENT SOP FOR STUDENTS WITH BREATHING DIFFICULTIES A. Communication 1. Students Students are informed by SL during morning assembly to bring their medication if they have respiratory and heart (R&H) conditions. 2. Class Counsellor Class Counsellors are given list of students with respiratory and heart (R&H) conditions by the safety committee via the WEC. 3. Parents (a) Class Counsellors will telephone parents of students with R&H conditions and inform them to ensure their children bring their medication to school. (b) SL letter to parents will inform parents to ensure their children bring their medication to school. B. SOP For Students With Breathing Problems In Class 1. Teacher checks that student takes medication 2. Teacher brings student to office immediately (student to bring medication with him/her) 3. Office to bring student to an air-conditioned room which has an air purifier i.e. Sick Bay/HOD Lounge/EL LAB. 4. If breathing condition does not improve after half an hour or if deteriorates, office informs parents to take student to clinic / asks permission to take student to the clinic for medical treatment if parent is unavailable. 5. School takes student to identified clinic for medical treatment after getting parent’s consent (see list of Clinics Annex B). 6. Parents meet student and teacher at the clinic to take over charge of their child. 7. If parents cannot come to the clinic, student is brought back to school. 8. Student waits in the sick bay until parent comes to the school. The air con rooms should have a purifier with a HEPA filter. If there are 5 or less people, they will be placed in the sick bay which has a Sharp purifier. If there are more than 12 people, the people will be moved (all or some) to Project Cabin which can accommodate 30 people and has a Sharp purifier. If there are more than 30 students, iSPace will be used which has 2 Sharp air purifiers with HEPA filters. IONISERS There are 3 ionisers in the school to kill micro-organisms. Annex J PIONEER SECONDARY SCHOOL HAZE MANAGEMENT FOOD MANAGEMENT Allocation of Canteen Stalls to provide package food for students during serious HAZE situation 1. 2. 3. 4. For the Stall 1- Drink stall and Stall 7- Fruit juice/Fruit stall: They will provide the usual optional items when required by the students. The drink for Stall 1 is to be grouped into 3 main categories (gassy, non- gassy and “milk” type. The drink for stall 7 is of 2 kinds – mixed fruit juice and apple fruit juice. All drink and fruit juice are to be put in cardboard boxes (to be gathered together in bulk) for easy delivery. The OM will collect photocopying boxes and keep them in the emergency store room. 8 boxes are needed for 1 class (6 drinks in 1 box X 7 boxes = 42 drinks). OM will collect enough boxes for 1 level = 6 classes. So, will be 42 boxes which will be used level by level (Sec 4/5 must have 2 rounds). 6. For the Stall 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 &10 (food stalls): They are to provide at least two menu of per-packed food each for selection ($2 and $3 respectively to be selected by the students). All the food ordered is to be collected by the respective buyer representative – class representative with help from EAS during an emergency situation. 7. All stall vendors are to submit the specially required menu for this emergency HAZE situation to the school for consideration by 4 April 2014. 8. All the six assigned stalls must stock-pile at least 200 empty packaging boxes each (for packing food when needed.) 9. The school will stock-pile at least 500 empty lunch boxes for an emergency. Note: School may buy tinned biscuits (2 per class) from the supermarket on the day of the haze situation.
