Workshop "Integration of RESFocus Wind Systems"
in cooperation with ISGAN annex 6
ERA-Net
Smart Grids
Event Series
Event No. 4
Content and Goals:
This event deals with the role of wind power generation as technology integrated into SmartGrids
based Electricity and Energy systems and their future regulation. The goal is the determination of
specific requirements in the area of Wind power generation on common, transnational R&D calls,
proposals, project types, their funding, supervision, monitoring and evaluation in the context of the
coming ERA-Net Plus call. During the workshop projects from different countries/regions will describe
the challenges from a technical and regulatory view and share their thoughts on what type of
collaborative research that is needed.
Target Group:
The core audience includes the national SmartGrids program managers and their experts in Wind
based smart electricity systems.

 German perspective (Tbc)
 Austrian perspective (Tbc)
Each presentation should, besides giving a short description of their work in the field
(project/program), explain their views on the following questions:
1. What are the technological and/or regulatory challenges we should focus on in
future RD&D activities on Wind-related SmartGrids topics?
2. How should we focus on them?
o Which type of international collaboration on Wind-related SmartGrids topics
should an ERA-NET Plus aim for? (which part of the innovation chain,
academic, private sector, etc)
o Do we need more of pilot or demonstration projects or do we need more
academic research on Wind-related SmartGrids topics? What TRL levels
are top priority for Wind-related SmartGrids topics?
3. How do we achieve better Wind-related SmartGrids knowledge sharing?
o Could you describe what “optimum knowledge sharing” means to you?
o What processes within a project lead to optimum knowledge sharing?
o What (mandatory) project rules do we need so that we get maximum
knowledge sharing, results scalability and replicability from each project?
