INVISIBLE WALLS WALES This is a new project which seeks to integrate the support and interventions offered to specific men in custody with support, treatment and advice to the whole family. The range of services will be tailored to individual families and will include mentoring support, group work, mediation, conferencing, parenting and other related services according to need. Core aims of the Invisible Walls Wales Project: Reduce the likelihood of reoffending and custody. Reduce the likelihood/escalation of intergenerational crime. Increase the prosocial community inclusion for the family. IWW will be delivered within Parc prison and out into the community. IWW will target families in critical need of multi-systemic support, and where the father of the children is in/will be in prison custody. IWW will offer a high level of support for the whole family for up to a year leading to the fathers release from custody, and then for a further 6 months post release. In pursuit of the 3 core aims, IWW will support positive family outcomes in: resettlement, relapse prevention, accommodation, finance/debt, ETE, substance misuse, physical and mental well-being, relationships, schooling, parenting. Welsh Centre for Crime and Social Justice. Wales Probation Trust. G4S TSS Rapid Response Mentor. Custody: HMP & YOI Parc Prison – Funded by the BIG Lottery, and focused within the South Wales area. To engage and work with 20+ families in need per year, over a 4 year period. Inclusion criteria: Famil y with children living in South Wales. Father of the child/children in prison custody, with a minimum of 6 months left to serve, and an identified/assessed need for relationship/parenting/resettlement support. Partner/significant adult/children, in identified/assessed need of systemic community support. Exclusion criteria: Any offence/public protection/child safeguarding restrictions/issues that deny the prisoner contact/access with the other members (adults/children) of the family. 1 Project Manager, Business Support, 4x Family Integration Mentors, ETEV Coach, CARAT Mentor, Family Interventions Unit, Parc Supporting Families. IWW will work in partnership with all relevant statutory/voluntary/private service providers, so as to complement and enhance existing service provision. IWW has an in-built phased replication model in order to promote IW projects throughout the UK. Significantly, the creation of the first IW project is here in Wales and we hope to work alongside you in the spirit of partnership to achieve ambitious outcomes, identify credible cost savings and develop a sustainable success.
