abiotic, plastic – abiotic, empty snail shell – biotic, Milk – biotic
2. A community does not contain abiotic features because a community is made
up of several populations of organisms, which are all living. A community
interacting with in abiotic environment is an ecosystem.
3. Backyard pond/schoolyard – are ecosystems because they contain different
organisms that interact with their physical environment. All the cats in the
neighbourhood is not an ecosystem since it is only 1 population of organisms.
A Tree alone is not, but when you include all the organisms that live in that
tree then it is considered an ecosystem. Vase of cut flowers – not an
ecosystem because they are no longer living and there is only one population.
Potted Plant – small unsustainable ecosystem. Digestive System – a small
ecosystem containing bacteria of various species that live and interact within
your intestines
4. False – human activity can change the abiotic features of an ecosystem
5. Large City would be considered a community because there are many
different populations with that city; birds, rodents, squirrels, cats, dogs,
humans, insects, bacteria
